Front fork springs

how do you actually take off the springs off the two metal pieces on each side of the spring. Its wrap around tightly and can't pull them off to install new spring. Thanks for the info!

Re: Front fork springs

Tap the end of the spring with a screwdriver/hammer... To unscrew it from the mounts.

You only need to remove the pins, if you are replacing the legs/bushings.

Re: Front fork springs

I already took out the inside of the forks and the little pin and removed the actual spring from the forks but inside the springs are the two metal pieces that have rubber tips on them and have slashes on them so the spring could fit around them smoothly those two metal pieces inside the spring on each end are the ones I can't get off. Thanks

Re: Front fork springs

The springs unscrew from those mounts;

Put that mount in a vise, and with a screwdriver and hammer, unscrew the spring from the mount, by tapping on the very end of the spring so it unscrews..

Re: Front fork springs

I need serious help my 50 is all in pieces and I want to put it together as soon as possible! I have joker aggressive front springs and still can't figure out how in the hell those the stock spring come off of the two mounts inside the spring. I tried to to turn the top of it with a wrench but it didn't do nothing. Also I have a knockoff 50 I bought some delrin bushings and I can squeeze them on there but they are very tight. Its not loose like the stock one. Is there a special tool that I can knock out the pin in the forks I 'm having trouble finding something the exact size of the hole so I could knock out the pin easily. I appreciate the help.

You need a 5/32 punch.

Re: Front fork springs

Yo I know what you're talking about. It's a ***** to do either way. I wound up taking a cutoff wheel and cutting the stock springs off the metal ends. Then I used a screw driver and a hammer to punch out the rest of the trash. New ones just screw in place.
