To paint it with the rattle can I hit all the parts with 600 grit sandpaper until all the shine was gone. Nice and dull looking. Wipe it all down with some paint thinner.
Put on a couple of coats of rattlecan primer. Spray a couple of coats of rattlecan paint. I just used Rustoleum. It would last quite a while but I thrash the hell out of my bike. I am hoping the powdercoat will hold up to my abuse.
Re: The rebirth of a crunchy 50.
If anyone out there wants to rattle can their parts first use the aerosol can of aircraft stripper, make sure you get all the paint off. Then primer, Then paint, Try the fairly new EPOXY mixxed appliance paint. Very similar to powder coating, But your limited to color, Black, White, Cream. Basicly stove and refrigerator colors. Very durable finish

Skrape, I am at about $160 for sandblasting, powdercoating and then having the dealer push the swingarm bearings back in.
Not to bad. I had everything painted except for the top triple clamp and the handlebar clamp.
Motor will be done by Saturday. Work keeps getting in the way.
