u cant tie a knot above the wound? come on man? 
also u said all u could do is offer moral support, if u lose a leg u will die in minutes if u dont stop the bleeding. so if ur dying mabey u dont wana die in the middle of the street, alone. at the least you could do is stick around untill u see or hear the pigs or ambulance is almost there.
