RZR SHRP and I were just talking **** about the two services. IF you read his firt few post we are just talking **** about the Marines and the Air Force. About the shooting misles etc at a EA6B, I just making a point, I know they would never shoot at the same team, I take that back, The Air Force ( A 10 ) shot at us Marines in OIF and kill several of us. Anyways I do give the ( A10 props, but that mother f*cker is slower then **** ) but can take a beating. Anyways this is like beating a dead horse. Air Force is better in the sky but Marines are better all around and we can hang in the sky with the AF.

Face it Marines is the way to go, they don't say " the few the proud" just for the hell of it

Ugh I can feel the love, to bad the air force has to contract work out to the Navy (SeaBee's) to build their own runways. or if the navy tells them to pack sand well they have to sit out of it or go buy some local contractors to build them an airfield to land on. We dont need no stinking airfields.

Yes we do, you can only launch so many operations from a carrier.

Funny, I was standing at the South Entrance of the Pentagon a few weeks ago and the Navy Yard shuttlebus pulled up, low and behold it was a young Marine at the wheel. Wonder what his MOS was?

I think we’ve drained this banter for all it’s worth. It was nice jawing with ya.

BTW, I think that covertwar had about the best informational post of this whole thread. Good job. Not sure what service you’re in but you seem to know your stuff.

oh I know. Believe me. I live about 5 minutes from Quantico so I’m used to arguing the 'finer points' with Marines. That's why I put the disclaimer in my first couple of posts that this is all in good fun and honest respect....but I do love to argue my service, as most of us all do.

Re: D.e.p.

My best friend showed me his government chauffer's licence from driving school buses in the Navy, on a joint Marine Corps/Navy installation.

Re: D.e.p.

there is no such thing as a mos for a bus driver for the marines. The only time you will see a Marine drive a bus is if he gets volunteered for that day because they need someone that has a white license. We don't have buses that take us all over base like the AF. We hump or drive our pov's

I thought I said my friend was in the Navy, but Marines are part of the Naval Service, so who gives a damn.

I found MOS 3531; Motor Vehicle Operator. What do they do? Drive Humvees and tractor trailers. Last I checked the AF AFSC for that, does all that, including but not limited to driving buses. And the Army has an MOS, 88M that does the exact same thing, not to mention my buddy, who is breathing proof that there are bus drivers in the Navy.

Blah Blah Blah....can't we all just love? Ok, so...question. I'm trying to get out of my DEP. I'm supposed to ship on Wed. I went and told my recruiter that I didn't want to go and he said "too bad, you HAVE to go or you'll go AWOL and you'll go to jail." Is this true or is he just blowing smoke up my as$? HEEEELLLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!!! I swear to god if they end of shipping me I will become the craziest **** at basic! I'll stab myself with my nail file!! Don't make me go!! haha

Re: D.e.p.

Reserve or Active Duty? Reserve, you are facked. You won't go to jail, your recruiter is bullshitting, but it's harder cuz when you sign the line you are part of your reserve or National Guard unit. You have to apply for a release and have a good reason or they might make you go.

I'll go find the exact process.

But if you are going Active Duty, it's really easy, just write a letter to your Recruting Station Commander that you want to be discharged from the DEP, yadda, yadda, yadda, then give a good reason.

Re: D.e.p.

Its for Active Duty, and I wrote a letter and when they got it they made me go have a "counseling session" with the CO of the recruiting command. It was basically one huge b*tch-fest on their part, threatening me that I'm going to go to jail, that I won't ever be able to work on base (Im a GS employee and my husband is a marine) so I won't have a security clearance and it will mess up HIS security clearance as well. I went to the GI Rights Hotline, called their 800# for their legal advice, but its a holiday so they weren't in. I have one of 2 options, I can GO to MEPS to ship out, and refuse to sign anything else, or I can go on a little "road trip" tomorrow. I don't know what to do!!...I did everything I was supposed to!
