So, Im thinkin of joining the USAF, to help me out with college and for training/experience.. I need some help tho.. I would like to do something in intelligence for career options after the military.. I have a few questions: How high do you have to get on the asvab? From peoples experience, what intel jobs are available and would which ones would you recommend? Any and all sugestions will help alot! OH yea.. I heard that I should get everything that the recruiter says in writing, cause people say they will say anything to get you to join?? I also heard that if you hold out you could possibly get more from the recruiter.. (probably BS!).// Anyways, THanks in advance for everyones !! -Josh

 

AF is good.. They don't deploy for that long right now it's 4months to Iraq but I heard that's changing to 6. I'm sure you'll have to score pretty high on your ASVAB for intel. like 70s atleast.

No such thing as holding out. Recruits are a plenty. The military isn't a sport. In all honesty, if you want intel, the army is the way to go. My brother in law is a drone operator. I've been in the AF 9 years and it's been good, but I'm getting out in August. AF is increasing deployments up to a year now for some career fields with the others to follow. Promotions in the AF is slow also compared to the other branches. Anyways, choose wisely and get it in writing or it's no good. Recruiters are yes men and anything you ask is going to be yes one way or the other. Good luck with your decision.

 

as stated above, there is no holding out for stuff. if you want more rank out of basic you can sign up for 6 yrs instead of 4 yrs but honestly i wouldn't. i have to disagree with joining the army though. every one of my friends thats in the army wishes they were in the airforce. and its not like they are all grunts either. airforce usually always has way better facilities all around. just think it through real hard man, because its a decent part of your life that will be devoted to moving here and there and most of the time its not by choice. all in all i have loved my time in the AF but at the moment it is full of bullshit.

 

ive got 4 middle east tours under the belt. Not one of them under 7 months.

active duty af security forces.

also intel tech school is close to a year i believe.

 

Well the 4 month thing is BS! That's regular AEF. This is my second 8 month deployment in two years. Don't join vehicle ops or you'll be doin convoys every year until this is over. 2 months training then the 7 month deployment.
