Re: A.W.O.L questions

Im an Air force SP and as a matter of fact I just picked up a guy last week that went AWOL for 5 months. His commander came down (and after a little wall to wall counselling) he's gettin an article 15 and a suspended bust (that means he has to wait extra long to make rank) other than that he got off pretty easy. The actual punishment for going AWOL or UA varies by branch of service, career field and most importantly your unit commander. My advise is dont get caught short...it aint worth it.

UCMJ is the same for all services. The Marines might have their own "Sub-Laws", but they can't charge something different then what the UCMJ says they can charge.

the punishment does not vary from branch of service it is under the UCMJ... same rules for everbody. what does vary is it is a commander induced punishment and he has some options on what to do. the people that don't get hammered is because their CC is a ***** and doesn't have the nads to bring pain. so if you know someone who got off easy it's cuz there commander is weak and i hope he doesn't get someone killed with his/her inability to be strong and decisive. NO EXCUSE FOR DESERTION OF ANY KIND!

You never know what you're going to do or how you will react until you're livin it. I always showed up on time but I've known plenty of guys who didn't, never saw anything much happen to em. I remember in 29 palms one guy went to NY over the weekend and just never showed up for a few days. I've had plenty of miserable nights where I felt like I wanted to run the **** off, but the Corps never gave up on me and I never gave up on it. That is until my contract ended and poof i was fuggin out.

What I meant by this and most who have a few years of service and some experience dealing with Marines is that for the most part you will see more of the higher penalties for breaking the rules come in the Corps..

No **** the UCMJ is the same for all services. Some services have just become extremely lax over the years in many many ways.

"Sub-Laws" what a boot.......

I agree. I've done 3 tours in iraq and one in Kuwait, and yes, at times I've thought about just driving the HMMWV south till i ran out of gas, and then running till I was out of breath..lol but in the end it gives Me a sense of great pride knowing I did my part in the war on terrorism by Greasing a few of those mother ****ers. :YEAH

Re: A.W.O.L questions

We had a guy go AWOL about three months ago from our shop. So i got sent to go and pick his goofy @ss up. He was the biggest sissy I have ever seen. I finally got his mother to turn him in, he was hiding in her house. He ended up getting an article 15, 120 days extra duty and busted down to an Amn Basic. About a month into his punishment he decided not to show up for work, and he is got kicked out with a general discharge.
