Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

if you use the stock f4i cable you have to cut the tip so when you screw it in it wont be at high idle.. that will solve the prob. of you screwing it all the way out..
i had the same prob. once i cut the tip no prob.i can set it at any idle i like..

Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

man this thread is a mess with all kinds of problems all you peoples shit that fell out did you install your adjuster cable with the spring???? the sping is to keep it from backing out from vibration, and follow the simple directions and its a easy job and like a few others mentioned "if you dont have any idea what your doing mechanically, then have someone that does do the mod"

and while your doin this mod you better do the klean-air mod unless you wunna be buying a motor

Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

ok so i took off my tank and airbox to tighten my cct and im guessing the idle screw mod was pinched under the airbox so i did a search and the one on my bike doesnt match any of the pics.

Can you tell me where the hell this cable is goin?
Its the one to the left::

I read thru this whole thread and i just want to make sure it doesnt fuck up the air\fuel mix... HELP ME OUT!!!!!!!

Im also guessing that the air mod isnt done either??
what other alternatives did you guys use for the CCT key??
besides making one like in the f4i clymer book?

HOLY SHIT! Wtf is that? That cable needs to go between the 2nd & 3rd throttle bodies (by the linkage) In place of the throttle stop screw that u remove as explained earlier in this thread. The cable u have is a homemade extension of the air/fuel adjuster which is what u DONT want. Find a stock one to put back in its place and leave it alone. Use ur new cable to adjust idle which actually opens the butterfly.

So if you install a 900rr cable, do you even need to do the idle screw mod?

Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

If you mean what should the stock idle be set to then the manual says 1300 + or - 100rpm. From the manual warm up the engine for 10 minutes and then adjust. And here's a link to download the F4i manual for free if you need it

http://www.gofastvideo.com/video/379...4i-Shop-Manual

Idle info is on page 86 of 492 or page 3-17 of the manual.

Re: F4i Idle Screw Mod (pics)

can you just put a screw in the original place as long as its set to 1300 rpm's and use the cable in the modded area? Im broke so Im wondering if anyone has done it? I saw a couple of riders this weekend with only the cable out the top, and no cable in the wax unit only a screw set to 1300.

how much do idle cables cost?

yeah you could take the set screw out from where the 2nd idle cable goes in and just swap it to where the stock cable goes and use the stock cable by the throttle bodies to adjust you idle. I went with a 600rr cable which I think is the longest and comes out the right side top of the tank. Cost was under $20 shipped.
