Considering running for City Counsil here in Janesville. What are the downsides? Good idea? Dont really have any personal agneda for running for it, other than I wanted to hold a political office here in Janesville before i die (could be any year now with the dragbike).

ryan that would be awesome if you got a position in the city council-your a very smart buisness man and would be a great asset to the community....i say GO FOR IT.

 

I really think i could do it, but the problem is do i want to deal with all the bs, and put myself as a major target for the city to take shots at? I have the degreeS and all for politics, the finances...and the time.. just wondering if i would be creating more problems for myself than solutions for the community.

 

the city council of janesville has some serious problems right now....i'm pretty damn sure you can't make it any worse.

Dont need any special education to be in the city council. If you want to try, go for it. As Ryan said, its pretty screwed up as it is right now. Kinda like a smaller version of Chicago Politics.

hey Ryan I think being some kind of building contractor is a prerequisite for being on the counsel. LOL seems like everyone on there is a contractor of some kind, that way they get lots of nice contracts through their ties. only thing I'd do if I was you is really try to get involved with the community as much as you can if you were to run. that shows that you truly care about the citizens and the city. anyone can say they do and run, but actions speak louder than words. I'd say it's realy time for some freshness in the counsel. it seems like there is way too much good 'ol boy cronyism going on there.
