Buying a Truck...any advice?

I know most of you must have trucks so i thought I might ask some of you what trucks are good and what ones suck Etc. Im getting a truck soon. im leaning toward a 05 V8 Ford F-150 All Black with 64,000 miles for $17,000. Im gonna finance and pay monthly payments. The Truck looks Brand New inside and out. Its gonna suck on gas because its a V8 but i dont drive that much anyway. Any Advice or help will greatly be appreciated! Peace

If you're serious about the travel side of riding get a diesel. I just picked up an 04 Dodge 3500 diesel dually for 19,200 with only 33K. I've been averaging around 20mph with city/freeway driving. My last trip to california I was looking at 24mpg average. I do love the look of the 150 much more than my dodge, but I bought with the idea of the motor being the most important thing, not the body style.

I'm too much of a ***** and don't want to break my truck so I'll let the videos do the talking, haha. Then again I still have 3 years and 67K on the factory warranty....

Re: Buying a Truck...any advice?

I have an 04 F150 Crew Cab 4x4...The only real problems with the new bodystyle F150 is the spark plugs breaking in the head when you attempt to remove them. A poor design by ford that hopefully will be recalled soon. They are 100K plugs but it is suggested you back them out and put some special anti seize in there. And the 4wd system is run by vac and a solenoid that keeps the hubs unlocked when not used. Well moisture will get into the lines and freeze (in cold climate) causing the hubs to get hung up and grind. A new solenoid design is already released and seems to be ok in my truck now. Good luck!

Re: Buying a Truck...any advice?

You can already get a 1500 with a duramax just no one knows about it...you might be able to get it in the avalache too.

My friend is a regional gm service rep and knows the build config options. It was in there for the previous models up to 06 at least.

Hopefully I'll be getting a crew cab f250 powerstroke this summer...the s10 is tired plus I can't lift a 2wd and run over squids.

Fords are way better than those junk chevy diesels. i do not know 1 person with a chevy that has not had major problems. i like the dodge motor just think they look like poop and the interiors are crap also
