Re: Do you do stoppies, if so do you have a steering damper

i run scotts and hyperpro on my streetbikes and gpr on my quads. although you don't need them they do help. i usually have them turned up most of the way especially when doing highchair stoppies.

i have a stock R1 damper for sale if anyone is interested in getting an extra one cheap.

there you go..... spend the money especialy if you like hitting some wheelies at higher speeds, donnie d was killed here in sacramento on the sunrise bridge comming down from a wheelie got a tank slapper, it wasnt long after that i put one on my bike. scotts are nice cuz you can buy the kit for your other bikes for around 150.00 and can switch to other bikes in minutes the dampner itself is about 350.00

Hes absolutely right.....do NOT do stoppies without a damper. THere are alot of people who say "mine is fine without one". Well....its not. You might get away with it for a few hundred stoppies....but then all of the sudden it will bite you. Save yourself a collar bone or a few ribs and 2 months off..........get a damper

Yep, the man speaks the truth.

My 954 doesn't have a damper yet and I'm scared to even grab the front brakes hard, let alone do a stoppie.

Hey can you pm me the address? Another question; do those dampers mount right by the ignition, or on the side of the frame?

Re: Do you do stoppies, if so do you have a steering damper

i bought my bike with a gpr on it and i always leave it on 7 or 8. idk why, i just like the feedback and resistance it gives. the i rode my buddies 06 636 with no damper and holy **** was that crazy. everything is different. wheelies and stoppies feel so much worse w/o one. if i ever bought a bike that didnt have one it would be the first purchase.

Re: Do you do stoppies, if so do you have a steering damper

I have one but can't use it right now... it was a bottom mount and it won't fit with the 954 front end... gonna see about getting a top mount so I can put it back on...

Re: Do you do stoppies, if so do you have a steering damper

see.....

this is why i asked "if you had 2,000 to spend what would you buy....

rather than the handful of stupid "you dont need gadgets" posts someone could have been like "hey steering dampner" and i would have been like "OH YEAH! i totally forgot about that"......

fun times on SL

Re: Do you do stoppies, if so do you have a steering damper

I'm all for dampers. itll save your *** one day

saved mine plenty.

my question is.....

I hear conflicting opinions from rotory(scotts, gpr) to rod type dampers(ohlins, hyperpro).

some love rotory and hate rod and I hear some love rod and hate rotory....what gives?

what makes the difference?????
