need help making stunt video game
First off, dope site. The info here is unparalleled, and everyone on the boards seems to be really cool.
So, here's the deal. I'm a game designer at a major video game company in Los Angeles. I've been riding for about a year now. (I'm not a great stunter, I'm just getting comfortable with stand-ups, but I can roll a stoppie out better than most riders) Anyway, I started riding down in Diego, and just recently moved up here. I've been trying to pitch a bike stunting game for some time now, and think I may have finally gotten through to my boss. I've shown them videos and what not, but what got them really interested was my description of last week's wed. night bike night. I told them about a guy who did a christ on the 405, over the 105 on-ramp, which is an extremely high one lane on-ramp that goes over the 405.
Anyway, these are my questions:
-This one seems stupid, but how many of you guys think a game about this (start out learning to trick, get involved with crews, have comps, make it professional) would be a good idea? I think that most everyone on these boards would buy it, but I just wanted to get it from the horse's mouth.
-How many of you are in the LA area, and would be down to help me get some **** on tape?
-Is anyone familiar with the wed night rides here, and can you recommend a video that is representative of what goes on? What I'm looking for is something that illustrates the street aspect of the sport, more than the competition style stuff. A ton of bikes taking over the freeways, ppl running, crashes, that sort of stuff.
Anyway, any info, support, criticism is appreciated. I've been pushing for this for a long time now, and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope this gets ppl excited, and I promise the game would be straight

If its designed by the people who make Tony Hawk/Matt Hoffman etc or NBA streets(pt.2) And the graphics are tight like those games. ThennI think you'd have a pretty good turn out for the game.
But the thing is, what would you guys give back to the Stunt world community? Like Sponsership and things of that line would be a nice start. Especially if the game sells well like a TH2/3/4...

The Tony Hawk thing is right on the money. Don't worry about controls and what not, it'll be tight. As for giving back to the community. I have no idea. I'm not involved in that ****. From my perspective, this is by riders, for riders. The game itself is what I wanna give back. If conditions are bad, you're hurt and out of the scene for a while, or just can't rock the crazy ****, you'd be able to boot up your ps2 or xbox and at least pretend. If it does sell like Tony Hawk, it'd be mad exposure for the sport. I think it would do a lot to bring it more mainstream, and make people realize that it is a legitimate sport.

Yeah, sure. But do you know what those skaters are getting for doing those games. Its not just a"thanks for landing that heelflip over the gap. Here's a game for you to enjoy"...
Im not one thats about money, I use to do DJ gigs for free. Just because the love for the music, and enjoyment of rocking a crowd with dope ****. But while you guys **** back and make all the money, these guys will be getting nothing but a video game out of the deal. I think ya need to sit down and work that out in the deal with your people.
I mean, if your getting pro riders to help you out to get this game hot. You guys are going have to give more than just a free video game and a thank you. People live off the media and mainstream, so whatever sells or becomes popular, kids/adults wannabe apart of that scene. So if stunt riding becomes more and more popular more people will begin t get into to this sport.

i think thats an awesome idea it would def. get the exposure that the sport is looking for, if this goes through i think you should make it as realistic as possible, like have comps at the same tracks, have it like grand tourismo where you can buy **** from winning comps or shows and fix up your bike, this could be a phat game, good luck with it
ill be in the game ill go down there and yall can put my moves into the game
nah but ya gotta make some bikes look like beater bikes and **** and make the bikes look pimp just my
cuz i dont know to much about games the only one i got is speedkings

Glad to hear you guys would be stoked. As for the money thing, I'm not saying that if someone is featured in the game, we'd be like, "thanks alot, here's a copy of the game". They'd obviously get paid for what they contribute to the game. You asked "what would be given back to the community". My answer to that question was, a dope *** stunting game.
All I'm sayin, is I can't speak on what kind of deals the company would provide, or even if they would. You need to understand, nothing is at that stage of development yet. You guys will hear about it when it is. I'm just a lone designer, without the support of my company right now. I'm trying to get them excited about making this game. What I need to do to get them excited about it, is get an accurate portrayal of what the sport is all about. Not only in comps, but just on the street. I'm just trying to get some ideas from you guys on what videos I could use for all that stuff. I don't want **** with 5 or 10 guys ****in around at a wheelie spot. There's plenty of that stuff in videos. What I want is stuff like footage of the los angeles wed. night rides. Or the SBF video where they hook up with like 100+ riders and tear up the freeways. I remember seeing a scene in some video where a group of guys are riding on the freeway, one of them hops off to ski, skitch, whatever, and makes his way over to the large cement dividers, and skitches sideways on those. That's the kind of stuff I'm talkin about. I'd rather see highchairs scraped, but these guys wanna see the crazy high speed freeway show off ****.

you might wanna check out the drew stone films like 12 o clock or Urban Street Bike Warriors. Those videos are more about the street style ****. All kinds of different groups from around the country, doin **** that gets attention. Might be good to show the big guys at the company. Check out the stuntlife store I bet shugg has both in stock, Good luck and hope it works out!

Thanks for the info KC. You wouldn't start with a dope bike, you'd have to work up the cash to buy one. There will be other ways to get bikes too, but that's hush hush for right now.
As for the stunters going to wheelie spots, I know. I'm simply trying to show the powers that be what the community and scene are all about.
