i currently perchased a 98 kaw zx-9r
THE QUESTION THAT I HAVE FOR YOU IS
THIS BIKE DOES NOT RUN RIGHT FROM 1000 RPM TO ABOUT 5000
YOU HAVE TO REV IT TO ABOUT 2500 RPM TO GET IT TO MOVE
IT IDLES FINE
DOESNT SEEM TO BE MISSING
JUST NO POWER
I AM A AUTO TECH BUT DONT HAVE MUCH BIKE EXPERINCE


I REMOVED THE SPARK PLUGS TO GET A LOOK AT NOTHING ABB NORMAL

DID NOTICE THAT ONE COIL LOOK TO HAVE MISSED AT ONE TIME

ALSO REMOVED THE CARB BOWLS FLOTTS SEE TO BE WORKING FINE

ONE THING I DID NOTICE IS THAT THE RAM AIR PRESSURE BALANCER TUBES HAD SOME FUEL IN THEM <--DONT THINK THAT THIS IS RIGHT

THIS BIKE IS DOING THE SAME THING THAT A CAR WOULD DO IF THE ACCELLERATOR PUMP WAS BAD

IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION I WOULD APPRECATED IT

Do you have full system or slip on? Different filter than stock? if so, the bike may not be jetted properly. Carbs not synced.

that is all I can offer. Otherwise, I am clueless without riding the bike.

 

BIKE IS ALL STOCK

I DO KNOW THAT THE BIKE WAS RUNNING OK ABOUT A MONTH AGO

Ok hear me out on this one! On my 9 it ran like crap until I revved past 6 grand. I tried everything but nothing helped then I thought about the fuel pump. Normaly I would thought it would run good down low and crappy in higher rpm's. I snagged a fuel pump off my old 900rr (same pump) and put it on and the problem was solved! Not sure thats your prob but its something to try!

 

im a bike tech and ive seen a few problems like that on completely stock gsxrs.. we had to have the bikes sent off to the factory for repairs.. lots of money and lots of time just fyi..

the problems we tried to correct were the jets, dirty carbs etc.. maybe getting a full system and jetting it would help
