Power

I have asked a few people but have no luck so far..

I have a 96 CBR 900RR.. I have found that it is lacking power. I have tried to power it up in first, which shouldnt be hard, and it is VERY hard (almost impossible).. I can clutch it up in 2nd but its still harder than it should be.

Its not me.. I have been riding a long time and have no probs with my 600 or r1...

I had a similar prob after I took my r1 in the shop once... I got it back and it didnt seem to come up like it used to. Took it back and they said they had put something on backwards... It worked fine after that...

Maybe there is something like that... i dunno... any ideas?

you should be able to roll on the throttle and get it up in 1st. a 96 900rr was my 1st bike. clutching 1st gear wheelies on that thing scared me. it's wierd that you can get 2nd no probs though. Maybe it's your clutch.

Re: Power

I know its not the clutch.. Its a power issue...

The reason is because I try to power it up in first like you should be able to and it wont... Clutching it up in first I can do... Its the powering it up that is the problem...

I can only clutch 1st and 2nd gear wheelies so far. I've also tried to power it up and it wouldn't go. but i havent been practicing it that way, only clutch.

Re: Power

See if it has been jetted...I work at a bike shop part time and you would be suprised how many bikes we see that people put the biggest jets they could find in the carbs. It might be too rich. Also change plugs...on my F3 when it needs plugs and I change them it runs ALOT better. You have to adjust the way you have been clutching it or you will get pitched off the back. Dirty air filter?? Just check the small stuff first.
