Strange noise after bike rebuild...

I spent the last two days rebuilding my boys R6. After replacing all the case covers and installing the new custom painted plastics and all the other misc. **** that needed to be put back on. We figured the bike would be good to go. Took it out for a spin. He comes back, and first thing I notice is the puddle forming under the bike. Check it out, and the oil pump case cover is leaking oil like a bitch! Quickly came to the conclusion that the problem was a re-used gasket. I forgot to get a new gasket for the new cover and reused the old one. My bad. But there is also a strange noise comming from the bike. It's almost like a clicking noise. Sort of like the noise the chain makes when you're rollin after hittin the kill switch. I can't seem to pinpoint it. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Where it's comming from? What I need to do to fix it? All help is greatly appreciated due to the fact that he's leaving for Iraq in 3 days... and he'd love to get some ride time in. THANKS!

if it does it when the bike is sitting still it is probably the stator my boyz bike did the same thing and after about 45min of ridin the battery would go dead, to test it out start the bike and unhook the battery if it dies the stator is no good

Both me and my roommate have 04 R6's and they both did the clicking thing. never saw any adverse effects from it. but it's def from the top end. Somethin to do with the valves. But think about it... you're sitting on top of an engine... you're gonna hear ****. thats inevitable.

As far as the noise now... it's not that. Might be the stator. but seems more like the chain area. the bike sat for a solid 2 months.. so I'm gonna lube the chain up and check for any disconnected lines or anything leaking. cause it's only when I accellerate. Hopefully I'll find it. Thanks for the help. and if anyone has any more ideas let me know!

^ Word about sitting on an engine and hearing ****. My Gixxer clicks, at first I was worried about it, as anyone would be. Having something bad happen on a bike is worse than in a car...so I had it checked out. It was nothing, just engine noise.
