Staying balanced on 1
Staying balanced on 1
I've been practicing my *** off the past few months to ride wheelies. I can now say I am MUCH better than when I was practicing, before I got some tips from you guys. BTW Thanks to this site.
Problem I am having is staying in the balance point. Do you guys use throttle to adjust or body weight or a bit of both? When I'm holding it up in 2nd in a staggard stance, My RPM's seem more stable when I'm pulling on the bars, leaning back a bit. But at times I need more throttle to keep it up and I end up going about 80+mph.
Also how do you guys slow it down from lets say 70 to 40? <--did all this make any sense
Thanks in advance

Here's what I do on my xt 600, if it helps.
Pull her up in second gear real fast, just outta first with low rpms, stright to balance point or as near as possible.
From here on out I'm sailing!!!! All I need to do afterwards is tap the brake and/or adjust my body when I feel trouble coming.
The key thing to remember here is that finding the BP real fast is what helps to slow your wheelies down right out the gate, then your on to braking in front of the BP and thats where it get real tricky!!
I had to practice hitting the rear brake all through my daily commute to and from work, while on two wheels or one wheel the key was to learn to react quickly to dips. Believe me it probably sounds crazy but it saved my hide over and over again.
I would apply light brake presssure, stamp the brake, snap the throttle, stand up snap the throttle all in an effort to get use to the "dip and brake and then throttle again". It teaches you not to panic when you hit a dip but instead keep on the gas and balance it out with the rear brake.
Today I bust my a$$ real good, slammed her up in first by mistake, I always come up in second gear, but today I screwed up big time!! No brake in the world could of stopped her with the amount of throttle I put on her in first!!
Stuff happens so be safe "OneWheeler".
