d.i.d. is a good chain. If you add 3 to the rear u might need a new chain unless u got extra links..

Re: help with gixxer sprockets

Why don't you just drop 2 in the front and save yourself a lot of money. instead of sepending 100+ for a new chain and 60+ for a rear sprocket and 13+ for the front. Just drop 2 in the front for 13$ and save yourself the money for the rear and a new chain. Drop 2 and use the same chain. That what I did. Planning sooner or later to go -2 +7 but until then I went -2 and kept my stock chain. I heard dropping a tooth in equivalent to about going up 3-4 in the back. So it would be the same for you to go -2 and save yourself about $200.

I got a 02 gsxr600. I use to have to bounce the crap out of it and clutch to bring it up in 2nd on the highway. Now I use 2nd for 20+mph and 3rd for highway and only need to do a mild bounce. Big differnce. Best $13 dollars I ever spent.
They should have what you want http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/html/main.shtml
Suzuki said I could only get a -1 from them but these guys make their own and allowed me to go -2

Re: help with gixxer sprockets

you can try -2 +2 you won't have to buy a new chain. I did -2+3 on my 750 and I didn't have to change my chain

I've heard that goin down in the front makes the bike really twitchy. while it might be cheaper, I would suggest stayin stock. More engine braking, and easier installation. But it's up to you. Good luck either way

You've got it twisted. 1 down is more like how they should be stock. The lower geared you are the more engine brake you have also, not the other way around. It's not very hard to change. You can use an impact gun or a big cheater bar and have someone stand on the back brake or put a board through the back wheel and swingarm to keep it from moving.

I wouldnt go down on the front, it causes too much stress on your "countershaft"...
