Re: gear it or stock?
Here is the good and bad of gearing.
There are a couple things you should know before you slap on some new gears.
Yes, gearing the bike can make the front come up easier. However, it also can make the front come up faster and tends to make the bike a little more twitchy. So, if you are scared of the bike coming up quickly, prolly want to stay with stock for a little while. On the other end, if you are bringing it up regularly and are just running out of revs gearing might be the way to go.
A good thing I have found about gearing is that it tends to increase engine breaking a little bit, so when you bring it up so fast you crap yourself it can save you just as fast. Fact, the hardest part of learning to wheelie is learning throttle control when you gear the bike it becomes a little bit more touchy.
I think I made a mistake early on by gearing my bike. I'm still learning,,, it's been two years. Of course that's not all because of gearing more of a gonad factor there. People say you loose out on top end, well with moderate gearing (-1 in front and +2 in rear) you really don't loose a lot. just that little 170 to 180 span or so,,, you know the go straight to jail speed. So I could care less.
i know for sure I can still do 160 and that is fine for me. Also it will throw your speedo off a little bit, personally I like it, it keeps me from speeding too much. if your going 60 my speedo reads 70. kinda thing.
-1 in the front is an excellent starting place, and the change is not drastic but enough that you can feel it. Start there if you decide to do it. Plus the front sprocket is always cheaper.
Hope this helps.

Re: gear it or stock?
i am running stock gears right now on my f4i. i am 12'ven it and i dont turn up my idol. This im hoping will help me be smooth with the throttle. I post this all the time. I kind feel proud. Sorry. but the only reason im going to gear it is because i want to be able to do spreaders and highchairs on the freeway in 2nd gear. :YEAH
Re: gear it or stock?
Street [ Long Distance, Fast Stuff] You Can Stay Stock Or Go Up Acouple Of Teeth In The Back.
Parking Lot [ Slow , Technical Stuff] That You Need Alot Of Engine Brake Or Dead Stop Torque Your Looking At 10-15 Or Even Bigger.
Than Again Alot Of People Run Different Combos, So It's Really Up To You And What Your Comfortable With.
Good Luck, Be Safe...
