slow stuff
slow stuff
Going to start trying slower stuff just looking for some advice. Is it better to ride the brake a little then clutch it or clutch it then brake. Any other tips in general is appreciated. Thanks
Re: slow stuff
Yeah this is the same question I have... Because when I clutch it up its like I'm instantly going like 40 MPH... I can't seem to catch how the rest of you guys are pulling them up so slow and steady... and it just rocks back into position like it ain't ****.

Seems like the moment I apply pressure it stops it from coming up and it falls back down.

i have been putting about medium presure on my brake. Just enough to keep rolling without comming to a stop. I clutch it with that amount of pressure and make sure my foot is still riding the break when i get to my balance point. I would recommend riding it as you come up. if you clutch it too fast you might loose your footing on the pegs or jerk your throttle. i am doing them at about 10mph and i dont even turn my idle up. I am hoping to learn smooth throttle control this way. What ifference will bigger gearing make with slow stuff. I use stock gearing but im going with a 54 tooth in the rear. Does it make it easier to get it up or what? Im no pro i am curious too. I just dont wanna put my new sprockets on and go bust myself up.

Getting the "pop" up to balance point take some practice and time. Gearing will help alot. All I can say is practice in a small spot. This will force you to get that pop up. If you are practicing in a larger spot, once lose BP, bring it down and practice bringing back up again. When I start all my slow stuff I am alost at a complete stop when I clutch it up.
Hope this helps.

This makes a big difference!! Practice in a small area!! It makes you work harder at gettin up quick and gettin control. Come to a near stop, clutch it up to bp or right past , THEN grab the brake just enough to smooth it out. Idle turned up also makes the difference. Just takes practice. GOOD LUCK

Dirtbikes and 4 wheelers both are a good way to learn brake control. That is definately the key.

HAHA late response, but.. tire pressure is really personal preference. 6-15 bls. just depends on what your doing. lower the pressure, the easier it is to get sh#t smooth.
