How do you get up on the tank?

I've been messing around on the kickstand trying to figure out how to get up onto the tank easy, like with my legs up over the windscreen, and haven't been able to come up with many ideas. How does every one do this!?
Also, is this called a crossover?

Re: How do you get up on the tank?

several different ways, you can sit on the tank, take both hands off and swing your legs over then grab the bars, you can get on the tank and swing one leg over at a time, or you can do an elevator(my personal favorite) dwich is jumping from the pegs to the cross over position. either way going 30 mph or faster is when its easiest. more stability.

I am new at highchairs also. I like one leg over at a time, but jumping into position is rather fun.

Just roll at a good speed and you will stay pretty straight.

P.S. Can you wheelie that Kitana yet? If not, practice the basics first and be safe. I don't know how well a Kitana 6 will come up with you on the tank....

Re: How do you get up on the tank?

Acyually ya, I was working on sit downs for a couple weeks but it wasn't happening, the KATana didn't like the sit downs, but stand ups are coming along great. I think I might have hit bp yesterday, not sure but it scared the crap out of me, and that's what everyone says it will do, but it was definitely the highest I've ever gotten it.
I kinda doubt it will come up if I'm on the tank, wouldn't it be hard for most 600's anyways? It would be cool just to be able to ride around on the tank though.

Re: How do you get up on the tank?

what i do is put one leg over at a time, start with the right one if you are going slow so ur hand is only off the throttle for a second, then u can put your hand back on to keep you at a consistent speed while you throw your left leg over.. as for elevators, before i broke my thumbs (still broken for another 3 weeks) i was having someone hold my bike up for me while i practiced jumping.. try that

do you have any different gearing on your bike? i have a 94 katana with a -1 sprocket up front, and a + 5 in back and it will wheelie all day long.. sit downs, stand ups, and if you clutch it real high in the revs it will pull it up with me on the tank and i weigh 210.. i would really suggest a sprocket change.. and if you need i will be selling my 50 tooth vortex rear sprocket with about 500 miles on it soon.. pm me if interested..

Re: How do you get up on the tank?

Hey, sorry I took so long, haven't been on here for a few days, but I just read your post about the sprocket and just wanted to tell you I'd love to buy that from you. You said it's a 50 tooth, so I think that would be +4 for me, I think I'm running a 46. Do you know if I'd have to buy a few more links for the ol' chain to put that on? PM me back if you're still selling. The old Kat would appreciate some help with wheelies.
By the way, how much of a difference did your gearing make in your speed at any given RPM? Like, If you could do 45 in first gear at redline stock, what can you do now?

Hey, this was the PM I tried to send you but it said you aren't accepting PM's or you're not allowed to. I can get them just fine though. Talk to you later bro.

Re: How do you get up on the tank?

Definately try this at like 30 mph, min. I did it once at about 20, got a slight wobble...fell right the hell over. Didn't hurt much, but was embarrasing as all hell.

apparently i cant send pm's either... but i just ordered a 520 chain conversion with all new sprockets... and as soon as i get that in i would be more than happy to sell it to ya... we can talk price later.. but it will be pretty cheap i assure you.. i never got a chance to ride my bike with the stock sprockets but i estimate about a 15 mph difference in top speed with my setup.. probably about 10 mph for you if you keep your stock front sprocket.. what year is your bike? mine had a 45 tooth stock.. and 14 tooth front stock.. i think i get about 35 to 40mph in first gear with my setup.. i dont really pay attention to 1st gear speeds much.. i know that my bike will do 136 in 6th at redline though.. radar tested.. also.. do you have any other mods done to your bike? (ex: pipe, jet kit, ignition advancer, etc?) email me at zbaber03@yahoo.com if you like..
