wheelie question

this may sound dumb, but here it goes...
ive been riding around practicing wheelies, and im getting pretty high, but i feel wierd trying standups. even when i bounce it up in second, i want to sit down right away. i guess its just that i feel like im more in control sitting, and when i stand, i feel like im going to shift my weight wrong and lose it. dont know why. anyways, opinions/advice would be awesome.

also, as far as the bp goes, i feel like im hitting it, but as soon as i do, i freak a bit and let off the gas and come slamming down. part of this is because im using my street bike, and the bike i got to set up as a p.o.s. stunt bike isnt ready to drive yet. anyways, the bp feels really high, and i was wondering, do zx9r's have a higher balance point then normal?

thanks again for any input

Re: wheelie question

oh yeah, kawasakis i think are thee hardest to wheelie and have the highest BP, cause everyone i know says they're engine sits way far forward, and they are heavie so when u hit BP it feels instantly like it wants to go over. kawi's BP is like 1am, yeah beond 12 o clock pretty much. but just keep practicing, don't go for BP go for like 5 o clock and hold it they're, then work your way higher, just get it up in one spot and hold it they're till u almost red line then practice going higher n higher n then buy a honda or gsxr.. cause they're BP is like 11-10 o clock. specialy f4i's

Re: wheelie question

i never did feel real comfortable with standups, still kinda getting used to it, but the faster you go, the easier it is for them. I cant ride a standup on my F3 in first, second is alright though, same with the 954, i just cant do it at lower speeds

Try to clutch up your wheelies. Basically you are not use to wheelies in general, its just going to take practice, practice, practice. Pretty much all bikes bp is the same, theres not even enough difference to even think about...

Re: wheelie question

Stand ups felt almost natural to me... felt like it stabalized the bike better than sitdowns and you can see as far ahead as you want to. Just keep at it and it'll feel better. I've slowly went back and back until i reached BP and now can go past it and slow a 2nd gear wheelie down to 55 or so. Its far back there ..good luck
