Question Wheelie with 93 zx7r

I have been trying to learn wheelies and and it seems like I really have to rev the bike up high after pulling in my clutch. I have gotten up to the bp a couple times and dropped it down right away. I am scared to rev the bike too high and always end up doing little wheelies. Is it possible to rev too high and bring the bike over backwards? Or should I just go for it? I have already read that one post on wheelies that explains everything in great detail. Do I just need more practice? Also I am doing these sitting down. It scares me to put my left foot on the passanger peg because I feel like it would cause imbalance once I was up???

yes and yes. Have someone film you so you can see how high you actually are. When you say you were at bp your wheel was probably just a foot or two off the ground.

If you're sitting and your face isn't staring at your tank you're not at BP. I don't know if it's true on your year but ZX7R's have the heaviest front end on a supersport (I've heard) so the BP is gonna be way up there.

OK, thanks! That video thing will probable help. I have another question about something. Sometimes when I pop the clutch the back wheel spins. I think that it only happens early in my ride. . . is the wheel still too cold to get enough traction?

Make sure your tire is warm and that your weight is not over the front of the bike.

I have been having the same thing happen to me, once I've been riding around for a few minutes the tire gets warmer and softer and grips better, hence less spin, it's also easier on hot days, and cement grips better than a newly paved and sealed street.
I have a Katana 600 and like your bike, the front end is heavy, though yours is not nearly as heavy as mine, I've found it comes up much easier when standing up. I'm working on doing the left foot on the passenger thing still, and it does feel weird, but the only way for it not to feel weird is to get used to it. I went in a parking lot and the first time trying that method I just popped the clutch a few K's above road speed for at least 15 minutes and tried to get used to the feeling of dropping the clutch while standing up and stuff. I'm still only getting the wheel up a foot or so, but it's all about practice.

You said you were nervous about clutching it up past balance point, which is possible to do, but isn't too hard to avoid. Make sure you cover the rear brake and start out at the same speed (eg, 3k RPM) and when you drop the clutch raise the RPM's a little bit every time. You probably know by now how high to bring the revs to bring it up, now raise the revs another 500, then another 500, and so on until you feel comfortable.
Just take it easy, always wear your gear (your learning, you're gonna crash eventually) and ALWAYS cover the back brake.

holy ****, this kid is doing sit downs with on foot on the rear sets... dude, do stand ups, and yes it takes awhile to learn wheelies, and yes the reason the front is heavie is cause the engine sits very far forward on kawis, so BP is 1am..
