newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

i have a 99 cbr600 f4 that i recently lowered 2 inches...is that holding me back from gettin my front tire to stay up. ive been practicing by rollin about good 10-20 mph pull in the clutch and rev up the RPM's til about 10k or so and letting go. the front raises up but not high and just for a couple seconds. Should i raise my bike back up to stock and gear my bike? let me know whats up

Re: newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

i got a 01 f4i, and i had the same problem. pay attention to how much throttle u r giving it. in neutral, or with clutch in, the motor will rev high with very little throttle. in stead of holding throttle at 10g and letting clutch out, try giving more gas while quickly pulling in clutch and snaping it out, that way it will only rev a little but ur giving it about 1/2 throttle. it will come up quickly and stay up. but take baby steps, (slowly give it more throttle) cuz u dont want to loop it. hopefully this helps u, it worked for me oh ya i wud raise bike back to stock height, its much easier to absorb sudden shocks if the bike actually has some suspension.

Re: newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

I've Got A 929[street Rider] Lower'd And I Can Pick It Up Just Fine, The Only Problem With It Being Lower'd Is That It's Alittle Harder To Get Of The Ground At First And With The Change In Swing Arm Angle And Limited Suspension Travel The Bp Is Alot Further Back Than My Stunt 929[stock Height]. If You Plan On Stunt'n The Bike Hard I'd Lift It Back Up, It's A Lot Easier.

why did you lower it in the first place? It jacks up the handling, and it makes wheelies harder. The only thing it is good for is drag racing.

Re: newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

i really dont know why... i just started riding like 2 months ago and i kinda wanted to stay away from doin stunts.. til i went to that show last weekend. i lowered my bike last week! everything i drive has to be lowered like my truck and cars... i just love the way it looks. few people that i ride with do stunts and one just dropped his bike last month. So i kinda wanted to stay away but now i wanna start doing that sht.

Re: newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

Re: newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

Maybe you're using too much clutch. Just slip it a little and give it some gas. it's gonna come up fast but with some paractice, you'll get used to it real soon. Be safe

Re: newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

i rode my buddies f4 last night, first time ive ridden since i looped (just got the casts off thursday, my bikes still not fixed) first time i ever rode an f4, i took it around the block 2 times, 2nd time around the block i clutched it up in 2nd with no problem what so ever... still geared stock... the kid whose bike it is cant wheelie at all, even first gear.. everyone who has tried to stand it up said it could not be done.. well, i proved them wrong.. at about 35 i gave it a little bounce, when it was comin back up from the bounce i clutched the hell out of it, and it stood straight up. just do it fast, all one quick motion. and keep your weight back.. theres no reason why that bike wont come up, my f3 is a tank and i can stand that up in 3rd...

Re: newbie tryn to learn a wheelie

yeah about 2 weeks ago.. i bounced up a stock gear Smokin' Joes racing edition F3 in second . . . it came up so smooth and easy. Lot easier than a stock 03 Gix and that F3 is old. The guy that owned it didn't think his bike could do **** so asked me to ride it and see...
