Stuntin with V-Twins
Stuntin with V-Twins
I ride a TL1000R, and have only been stunting for about three months. I'm having a lot of trouble with my stand-up's. I bring it up in second running about 5 1/2. It comes up with ease, but I can't get a decent ride because I end up red lining. I rode with Socal Elite a couple of weeks ago, and asked what I was doing wrong. They said that I need to go back to an inline 4 with a higher red line. Whats everyones take on that. Am I just not finding the balance point. It really feels like I'm about to loop it with as high as I'm getting. Help!
I have a 97 TLS with stock gearing, and I bring it up in third on the highway (no clutch). D-aces has a 97 TLS. Streetfighterz used to ride TLR's. Not sure what gear they brought them up in. You might consider gearing it to bring it up in third, but I really think you have enough power to do it with stock gearing. www.d-aces.com www.streetfighterz.com Both sites have messageboards you can post questions on.
I also rode a friend's 2001 TLR a couple times. After a while, it does seem to get wobbly. Could be from the lower fairings catching the wind. Might try taking off your plastic and testing it that way.

You could regear, but I just don't think you are hitting the balance point. You should get someone to tape you then you can actually see how high you are. You can prolly lean her back a few.

Twin Wheelies
I ride an SVS and have found twins are harder to wheelie than I4's. (IMHO)
The throttle is much more sensitive (more engine braking).
I have also be told that I wobble a little (I can't feel it) side to side when in a wheelie, I think the engine causes this.
I have also found that if you roll on and off a little while in the air you can carry them further.
Just my .000002 cents

Hey man,
Keep your right foot covering the back brake, if you want to go to the passenger pegs use just your left foot,
I have a 99 TLR, I looped it looking for the balance point, actually I just got scared and bailed, with a combo of throttle and back brake you can find that balance point, and with stock gearing you should do fine,,,,
good luck, the balance point is high on the TLR's, just be careful and cover the back brake,,,,,:helmet

this is my first post here i just recently purchased my 00 tiller 3 or 4 months ago and was wondering what the word was on wheelie bars, is it possible to learn on them first? and as you find your comfort zone or where you are supposed to be(Balance Point) instead of where you think you are, then you would remove the bar and try w/o it? any feedback would be apreciated
OUT OF MY THREE BIKES I LOVE TO WHEELIE RC51 #1THE TORQUE AND ENGINE BRAKING#2WEIGHT NOT AS JUMPY AS LIGHT BIKES#3THE SOUND I HAVE MORIWAKI HIGH MOUNT FULL TITANIUM JOINTS,WHEN PEOPLE HEAR ME THEY EXPECT 2 C A HARLEY U GOTTA SEE THE LOOK ON THEIR FACES,THE BAD PART IS OIL STARVATION WHEELIE OR ENDO THE OIL LIGHT COMES ON,NOT AN ENDO BIKE.
twins are easier to wheelie. with the torque they come right up. i can bring it up at 10-15mph in second gear (stock gearing). you just need to get up to the balance point so you're not redlining. you'll know when you hit it. good luck.
