Stuntin with V-Twins
I ride a Honda VTR 1000 Superhawk.....twins are wheelie machines. I can ride a wheelie forever on the highway.
The best advice I ever got was from Gixxerrydin2k2 he said to me when I first started doing standups "Hey man get your dick out a the tank and straighten those legs and you'll hit the balance point". Sure enough tru dat bang wheelie forever.
I have also looped a Superhawk because I wasn't covering the rear break. Before you start even trying to go for blocks you should be able to get a wheelie up and then be able to bring it back with the brake. Practice bringing it down with the brake then go big. COVER THE BRAKE. COVER THE BRAKE. COVER THE BRAKE or you'll elarn to the hard way.
As far as a TL doing wheelies in second no problem with stock gearing. My boy rides one and he bangs it up in 3rd no prob. Hit about 55-60 give it a big bounce gas clutch and it'll come up.
Good luck.

You're getting some good advice...another thing with twins is where they make the most torque. Inline fours make the most H.P. and TQ in the upper R's. Twins make the big numbers lower in the RMP range.
My experience with ryding a TLR was awesome. I was able to bang it up at lower R's than on a inline 4. As for the woble...thats when the torque and RPM's are spinning the rear wheel at it's max for the gear. on my bike if I bounced it up in 3rd I could do s standy without the woble. If I clutched it in second, as the speed and RMP's increased it would woble alot, so U'm told I couldn't feel it. and remember like I forgot to do when I destroyed my bike,
COVER THE BRAKE COVER THE BRAKE COVER THE BRAKE COVER THE BRAKE.

the balance point on a tl is very high,a friend of mine who passed away would wheelie on the back pegs(i reccomend covering your brake) at about 10-15mph while scrapin the tailight, the drawback to a twin is less rpm's ,so balance is extremely critical ,or you could try using the clutch to bring it up in a gear higher then what your using now.that motor has some torque, use it
Well.....My stunnin days are over for a while. last saturday I tried to do a Jesus Christ for the first time. It didn't go so well. When I jumped up, the bike wobbled to the left a little and I lost my balance. I would say that I was probably doing a good 45 or so when I hit. I almost tore my left foot completely off. I dislocated and shattered my right big toe into a bunch of little pieces. Didn't get to much rash. I was wearing a helmet, gloves and a jacket. To bad I wasn't wearing my alpine boots. Probably would have done my feet some good. I'm wheelchair bound for a least three months. Then I have to learn to walk again. Docs say at least four to six months before I'm walking and a year before I fully recover. They are going to have to fuse the bone in my right toe which means I won't be able to bend at that joint and will be walking square footed for life. The scary thing is, despite my family and friends begging me to quit stunnin, I'm so eager to get back out there and keep going. I'm at a crossroads right now. I was a newbie and had only been stunnin for about four months. Do I turn my back on what I love because I had a close call, or do I ignore the fact that I could get hurt again and keep going. My heart says life is short and bikes and stunning are all I got in this crazy world, but everyone says " I't could be worse next time" This newbie needs some kind words and support from some fellow stunners who know what I'm going through. Also, any good ideas on what bike to try out next. Probably lookin at about six or seven grand from the insurance.
Like ak jonny said you have to find the Balance point on a tlr it’s high.... oh and the bike AK Jonny looped at one time it was mine the ******….
I now have a RC51, twins you have to be good at shifting with one tire up.

I know what kinda **** your dealin with,, when i was a newbie in my first season i looped a 40 mph wheelie, I paniced and put my feet down as the bike was going over, the street pulled them right out from under me and i basically hit knees first. this resulted in a two page MRI on just one of my knees that included impact dents in my bones, 3rd degree teers in my ACL, and miniscus damage and a bunch of other **** i couldnt understand. Doc said ill prob have arthritus by 30.
Im now going on my 3rd season and still hearing the "its dangerous" opinions but I cant give it up. I am now more comfortable with my bike and we communicate to eachother(yes me and the bike-no im not nuts)
I listen to her and she tells me if im pushin my limits as well as hers. My learning process has been slower than some but it has also been more safe. In my opinion I think you will know when your able to get back if you will or wont, but if you do, take it a little slower. no reason to rush and do all the stunts right away, there is always somebody better. ride safe have fun with it and learn at your own pace. Hopefully Ill have a chance to meet you sometime and ride. or if you decide to respectfully bow out, Im sure every stunter in these forums will still have respect for you
sorry so long and "after school special" but thats my .02

man im sorry to hear about your wreck. i hate to hear of anyone getting hurt but i agree with the saying that if it doesnt kill ya it only makes you stronger. there are risks all over in life. hell look at what happened on 9-11. i believe a person has to do whats in their hart and whats makes them happy. so if its rideing thats in your blood than i think you got some time to learn to wheelie that wheelchair. i am in the saame boat that you are kinda. been at syunting for 3 months then i was interupted by winter so i am in the process of learning all the tricks and getting better. my family and friends also give me the please stop before you hurt yourself talk but they also have come to understand that i have found something that i am very compationate about and support me for that. i cant make your mind up for ya but all i can say is just be you and do what you believe in your heart . no one should look down on you either way.
my prayers go out for you for a speedy recovery weither you decide to keep stunting or not.

Thanks for the replys. I have already made the decision to continue stunnin, its just a lot of people try to make me feel bad about it. I get the your not just hurting yourself routine a lot. Plus my mother works for the police department and my sis is a 5-0 so they're gonna give me crap either way. I just needed to know that I wasn't crazy for eating **** and wanting to jump straight back into stunnin as soon as im physically able. Thanks for the support guys. You made me feel a lot better.
Aw hell. Give up the stuntin and try something safer, like bull riding. LOL. Man, all I can say is that you'd better be serious about stuntin. That's a lot of risk you're taking to take it lightly. I wish I had never started. I would have a nice looking 929 right now instead of a beat up TL1000S and hospital bills. Unfortunately, it's become the most addictive drug I've ever experienced. Kinda like smoking, seems pretty cool at first, then after a while you realize you can't quit. I know if I keep it up, I'm gonna wind up in the hospital again, and that scares the hell out of me. But even that fear isn't enough to stop me. I'm powerless.

How do I go about getting track time to stunt? I don't even know of any tracks close to me except for willow springs but that is still pretty far. Is it expensive? What kind of rules do they set for stunting? I'd love to get some practice time on a track when I can walk again, but there is just something about bringin er up on one cruisin down the freeway for all to see. Anyway, let me know if you have any track advise. Hey longshot, where is orange park? I'm originally from Orlando. Just wonderin.
