Sprockets for a TLS

It's time to get a new chain. I'm 1 down in front, should I add teeth to the rear. I'm still learning to keep it in the balance point. Would a larger sprocket in the rear help.

go 2 up in the back for now nothing drastic, if your just starting out gearing doesnt matter much now, or you could stay with just one down and get used to that

Hey Squid, I've got a 97 TLS myself, and the gearing is stock. You have the bad azz bike. They detuned them in later years. I bring mine up in third on a regular basis. As far as keeping the balance point, you have to concentrate on throttle control. That bike has so much torque that it can be a little touchy on one wheel. Keep working on 2nd gear wheelies. 1st gears are really tricky to hold. If you start your wheelies at slower speeds, you have more rpms for when you drop your front end a bit and have to recover. If you already hit the balance point and just want to keep it, work on throttle control. Smaller wrist movements when your in the air.

i ride an sv so i kinda know what ya talkin about with the torque. i am one down in the front and i like it. if you are still in the learning procees with one down i believe you should leave it unless your haveing problems. otherwise you will have to re-learn how the bike will act when throttled . just my thaught
