Stock Exhaust

I'm getting a stock exhaust on ebay for my bike. Will I lose much power switching from a bolt on RS-3?

Also, is it weird that I have to be at 10,000 in first to power it up or is it just because of the elevation?

You won't notice much if anything except the sound will be different

Re: Stock Exhaust

you wont notice any power loss, you just wont be as hard of hearing when you turn the bike off

& you definately dont need to be at 10000 rpms in first gear (or any gear for that matter). if you insist on powering it up, get going around 6k, let off, compress the forks, and on the rebound just wack the throttle. should come right up. but seriously, you should get used to using the clutch!

Re: Stock Exhaust

When I switched from stock to my RS-3 I felt it ot be a little smoother and didn't feel as though it had to work as hard to get going. Just my though...

I think my bike is ****ed up then, either that or it's the elevation, because seriously it will not power up under 9k I've tried so much. I don't even feel the powerband kick in until 9, and if I power it at 10 it comes up quick most the time, but if I do it anything lower it only hops.

Oh and by the way. I'm just powering it up to get used to the front wheel in air cause it kinda scares me when I clutch it.

Re: Stock Exhaust

Could me, I'm a bigger guy and only need to get it to like 7k-8k at the most to get her up. Just tug a little on the bars and up she comes.

Re: Stock Exhaust

DONT TUG ON THE BARS TO WHEELIE!!

thats the #1 newbie mistake. i think we all did it when we were first trying to wheelie.. but seriously, dont do it. if you insist on powering, just give a quick on/off of the throttle and bounce the **** out of the front suspension.

you say "it comes up quick" but its really not... you dont know what a wheelie feels like yet. if you power it up at 10k, by the time you hit bp you will be redlined.. and more than likely you will loop if you continue to do it that way.

Yeah I don't tug on the bars. When I chop the throttle I move my entire body forward and kinda push with it, then as I whack it open I lean back. It rolls for a couple throusand pretty low then I can feel it get higher and lighter.

I'll just learn to clutch it, since I don't have enough power to do otherwise.

Re: Stock Exhaust

Sorry Ansky, but that is the only way I can get it up. I've tried clutching it with no luck. By just powering it up and tugging on the bars I can do them on command and put them down when I chose. What can I say?

Re: Stock Exhaust

It's not that big of a deal for the guys with suzukis because we have stock steering dampers. If you tug on the bars on another bike and land it crossed up you can highsdie though.

Re: Stock Exhaust

learn to use the clutch

there is a power loss up there, I used to live in Silverthore,CO in the mtns(9000ft elevation) and when we would go down to Denver to ride the bikes felt so much faster, but u can still wheelie with the small loss of power.

just ride more and ride with ppl that r beter than u so u can learn from watching them.

Re: Stock Exhaust

The thing I like about clutching it is that I don't have to ride around in high revs for trying to throttle it up.

It'll even be better when I get my stock pipe cause it'll be almost silent compared to how loud it is now.

Re: Stock Exhaust

My neighbors get pissed at my can, if I have a stock one I can also practice in the industrial area I like without being an annoyance and attracting cops.
