I did my first wheelie today.

i have a 96 zx-6

Ive been trying to do powerwheelies, but i just couldnt get it up(maybe 1inch of the ground)

So i tried the clutch method. I was going about 15-20 mph, pulled the cluth, revved it up to about 7k rpm and dumped it. My front went up in the air probably 2-3 feet. It felt weird in the beggining. I will practice some more.

Re: I did my first wheelie today.

Stay away from first gear!..and what the hell, i was powering mine up on my 89 zx6 in 2nd gear on stock lame *** gearing 15/39, and i know that bike should do it, u just gotta bounce it. get to like 5-6k rpm's in secound and jump on that bitch and give it wide open throttle right after u bounce it, wha laa, should come up with about 4-5k rpm's left to ride out. just remember, when your wheelien, u need to be in that spot where u think your gonna loop...

So basically the balancing point might feel as the bike was about to loop?

Re: I did my first wheelie today.

If you are on the gas hard when you hit the B.P. it will feel pretty nasty, but it you learn to clutch, or bounce it up to the BP you should be able to avoid accelerating, or being on the gas hard. I'de play with power wheelies for a while, or work on bringing it up high, and down smoothly, don't rush it, it takes time, and don't try to show off, that's how people get hurt and killed learning to stunt.

Re: I did my first wheelie today.

Congrats and keep up the practice. You'll be wheeling that beast like a pro before you know it. My boy has the same bike and was convinced that it wouldn't wheelie b/c the bike was to heavy. So, I told him to start clutchin it and now he's addicted. Just take your time and don't forget about the brake. My boy wrecked the other day b/c he forgot about it. :YEAH
