Clutch To How Many RPMs in 1st?? GSXR 750
I was out practicing clutching it up on my 03 gixxer 750 in first gear and I can't seem to get it down... I could bring it up a little bit but it didn't seem to be under control. The wheelie would be small and was going forward more than up. I tried revving it up more but it just doesn't sound right in first to let the clutch out near 10 rpms! Anyone with the same bike or just suggestions in general let me know. By the way I had my left foot on the rear peg. Help Please!!

I was out last weekend, I dont have my tach on anymore. Plus its not good to look, I just try to go by sound. I have a 97 gix6(-1+3) and with a little bit of revving it would come up, but the more I wacked it, the higher up it would come. And this was from a dead stop. Best thing to do is just keep practicing at it. You'll find it, and if you listen to the sound, you'll figure out how much throttle it will take.
Its all about the practice.

That bike is a Wheelie machine. You dont need to clutch it up in first. Here's what you need to do. Just take off from a stop accelerate to 20-30mph,let the throttle all the way out, and then give it gas (LOTS) let it out and hammer it hard again. the second time she'll come up. this is a quick sequence 1. 3/4 throttle 2. full throttle when it comes up it'll scare the **** out of you so be prepared. It's not gonna loop unless you keep it hammered and even then it'll take a while. Try this doing sitdowns, some claim it's easier to learn stand-ups but when learning wheelies you need to concentrate on getting the bike up not on keeping your balance. once yopuve mastered the sitdowns the standups will be a cake walk. Also check out Dan Jackson's www.stunterschool.com lots of good $#!t there. cheap too.

Give it more gas right when you let the clutch out and back out of the gas as it comes up, dont just hold the gas steady. And remember kiddoes... power wheelies are ghey... use the clutch.

:YEAH And dont forget to cover that rear brake... When learning, this is going to be your best friend. I had a nice one where if I would have rode the break and handled the throttle right i could have rode it out.

dont use rpms to bring it up. go real slow, like 5 and then pull in the clutch, let the bike slow a little more & then clutch it up. you will hear 2 dif tone changes. the first is around 7000 when you get to the beggining of your powerband, then the tone will change again around 10-11000, when you hear it get to that second change in tone then let it out fast & smooth. cover your brake.

Dude youre crazy, first gear normal wheelies are just plain nuts!
Most of the time their going to be out of control and small. Its just a horrible gear. Try 2nd Or 3rd. It might work better. When the rrr's sound to high give it a little more and dump the clutch.

In The Wind,
i've got the same bike as you. i just started clutchin first. my bud's got an '04, he was freakin nailing 'em while i was doin little 2 inch popcorns finally he pulls up an say, "dude, just roll up to about 20, slip it with one finger, give the throttle about an inch, drop the clutch and don't let off the juice" IT WORKED :YEAH
i don't look at RPM's, i just wait til it says "weeeeeeeeeeeee", you really don't need much for 1st - as stupid and as hard to picture this might be - you need about 3/4 to one inch of throttle at 20-25 mph.
once you nail one, you'll agree with the guy that said "power wheelies are ghey"
let us know how you make out.
