2 stroke tips?
2 stroke tips?
Heres where i stand, riding a Kawasaki KR1s 250cc 2 stroker for another 6 months, i can power wheelie it but cant get teh BP. can stand up wheelie it in first (2-3 foot) but cant hold. Tried clutching but when i let the clutch out it just lurches forward. Can someone please help me to get it up
next thing, stoppies. Standard brakes are great, tried blipping them, cant bounce it right and i just end up with sore manhood. Do i need braided lines?
Thanks guys.

Re: 2 stroke tips?
2-strokes have a peaky/wierd powerband. Learn to use the rear brake to bring the front down if it scares you. What I found works to get a hang of the rear brake is bring the front up (it doesnt have to be super high) and just press the rear brake until it comes down. Sounds simple, but worked 4 me. Powering wheelies is kinda sketchy, especially on a 2stroke. It will come up slow the first 1-2 feet in the air, then the motor will hit its power, and the front will start to fly up. When it comes up high, ease into the rear brake and use that and the throttle to keep it up. To clutch it up, roll right before the power-band or where it feels comfortable. Pull the clutch in,rev-it , give a little bounce on the pegs, and as the bike is coming back up from the bounce, let the clutch out fast.
(lean back, but try not to pull on the bars much. Alot of ppl end up turning the bars, or giving it more gas when they pull to hard)
*cover the rear brake & wear a helmet*
I cant really help you on stoppies b/c i suck too. Concentrate on pushing your weight forward. And unless the brakes feel excessivly spongy, you shouldn't *need* braided lines to do stoppies.

Re: 2 stroke tips?
I'd recommend sticking to stoppies till you get something else. 2-strokes suck to wheelie, i sprained my wrist going off the back learning, and my friend tore his acl/mcl going off the back. Both of us can wheelie our streetbikes. And this was on a puny yz80!!!!
If your willing to try though this is what we did. Drive up to the powerband (you know how it feels when it kicks in, get right to that first kick in point) close the throttle and then open it and lean back, it will come right up and you won't get the sudden jerk like if you do it below the powerband. Just be ready with the rear brake cause it will come up fast. You can also clutch it up, just give it enough gas to get it into the powerband then drop the clutch.
I could wheelie in every gear. First was the easiest but came up way fast. I usually stuck to second and thats where i could ride them the farthest (30+ft?). Friend was in the top of third when he looped it and tore his acl....
Good luck, don't hurt yourself.

Re: 2 stroke tips?
i'll give you a big hint: don't wheelie 2 strokes. they aren't made for it, you're going to hurt yourself. and 2 feet off the ground is only like 3 feet away from the balance point. good luck with that if you keep trying. i'd never do it on my 2 stroke. not even if someone paid me.
