I need help on WHEELIES

I have 02 gsx-r 600. I get up to about 35 mph and whack it in 1st
gear. It comes up with ease. What do I do next....(I've been introduced to Tank Slaps)

1st get a streeing damper!! (call Shugga at Stuntlife Inc.) 2nd cover the rear brake..both could save a lot of hurt!
my .02 cents.

Which steering damper do you suggest JackassRR? I know the importance of covering the brake.(done save my *** several times) I just can't find that thing called "point of balance" I'll invest in the dampers by the weekend. Any other pointers will be greatly appreciated!!!

I run a Daytona damper..they are inexpensive and work well. A Scotts is sweet but around 4-450 bones.
Just keep working on the wheelies..You will find the point where you dont have to keep accelerating..you probably arent high enough yet. Dont try to rush it..just practice.

Little at a time

Try just keeping the front end up. When you start hitting the rev-limiter, then start working on getting your front end higher. When you hit the balance point, you'll know it. Believe me. Start with first gear and gradually make adjustments. And remember, when you start riding the long ones, DON'T COMPRIMISE YOUR SAFETY MARGINS!!! Set the front wheel down at the first sign of trouble. You can always try again.

Thanks for the tips!!! Its about 30 degrees here; however, it won't stop me from praticing. Hopefully I'll meet some of you guys and buy you a round. As for now..... I'll drink a few for you.

IF you're gonna start riding wheelies the skin on your *** should be the last thing on your mind. Try stand up's in second gear, easier and smoother. Worked for me. Just remember to cover the rear brake. I would go ahead and invest in some wrecked plastics also. Peace

hey perish i have an 02 gixxer 600 too and you have a damper already! it comes stock! everybody else has given you good advice especially about taking it slow i go out and ride to do nothing but practice but dont get mad and start doing stupid things. i can do 2 gear stand-ups for about 10secs or so but i firmly believe that you should learn sitting down and if your gonna do stand ups then do it in 2nd 1st is to twitchy. crazy cramer is right you will definetly know when you hit the balance point. i just finally found it a couple of weeks ago. you will feel like you are going to tip over and when you completely let off the gas to come down its not like a low wheelie you will kinda hover there for a second before it comes down (if you just let off the gas and not use the brake) just remember the balance point is lower than you think and you are not going to tip over. personally i think confidence is the most important part of stunting. i never get better at a stunt unless im not scared to do it not but the only way i gain confidence is experience and practice. i hope this helps

Sit downs are easier for me when im going faster..... i dont kno if its good advice for you but, maybe you should try them where you have alot of open road, and get on her. and dont be scared to shift, when you get to like 135, you wont be worried about that

Sit downs are easier for me too when I'm hauling ***. Its easier for me to shift too sitting down. just remember that when it gets too twitchy to go ahead and set it back down, you can always bring it right back up.
