Help with bleeding my handbrake

Ok, for an hour i've fought with my handbrake. I have it rightside up when i'm bleeding it, and i'm also using a motion pro speed bleeder (which is junk). I tried and tried to get it bled. I went through 2 master cylinders, the first one just started leaking like crazy, don't know what that was all about but i'm pretty pissed cause i just bought it, the second one that's on it, I have brake pressure, but it's not consistent. Like, if i pump it a couple times then i can get brake pressure, but if i don't use it then reach for it, no pressure until i grab it like 4 times. i took it on a ride and tested it, if i grab it a couple times then i can get hte rear to lock up but the lever is all the way to the clip on and i have the lever adjusted fully out.

any tips on this? it seems like every time i turn it upside down and attach it i keep getting an air bubble, but then it goes away. The master cylinder should be good cause it came off my 900rr (since the one i bought was broken) and my 900's brakes were working just fine. The resevour is pointed so the fluid is getting into the tube then the tube runs down and points straight back up. the resevour is also mounted above the master cylinder.

this damned thing is pissing me off.....pics of how yours is setup would probably help cause maybe my mounting is wrong.

I say it would make more sense to bleed it the way it is goin to be mounted instead of bleeding it one way then flippin it over.

Ya, i tried that too. I used a vacuum pump and still nothing. I think the seals in the master cylinder are worn out causing the pressure to bleed off.

you rocking 5-10mph highchairs? until then, you can tell me about safety and what to do when it comes back and you don't want to hit the bar....handbrake helps keep it safe. i can't take a hit to my skull like that again.

and that word is over-played, nowhere have i ever claimed to be "gangsta".

Re: Help with bleeding my handbrake

sounds to me like you need to check the alignment on your bracket.
You probably dont have air in the system any more, If the bracket flexes at all when the pads touch the rotor it will result in a mushy or lever that needs to be pumped.

That's the problem Jeremy had with his- he opened up the slider holes a little with a drill so they didn't hang up, that fixed the problem. Or you may not be getting all of the air out of the master- try bleeding it from the banjo fitting up on the lever.

Re: Help with bleeding my handbrake

ok, so i figured it out. I had my vaccuum pump. I took off the handbrake, turned it right side up and moved the lines around and tapped everything with a hammer and i took the caliper off and turned it over a couple times, tapped on it with a hammer, then curt from ibws told me to put grease around the bleeder, so i did that, then i proceded to bleed...there was a huge bubble trapped somewehre that i released when i was tapping on the line. I got it out and now it has hella strong brake pressure. I'm gonna have to re-bleed all my brakes like this now cause it's stronger than the pull on my front brakes. so that should help with the hand brake thing.

and about the bracket, i can weld aluminum pretty good now, i've been practicing and i welded that bracket up super super strong with re-inforced areas cause i was scared about it flexing or possibly breaking. I think it's pretty strong.

thanks for all the help guys, i'm gonna test it again tomorrow and see how i like it.
