Need help on highchair position

Alright i'm a beginner at alot of this. I can wheelie and shift through third.. practicing on hitting the bp with the rear brake and maybe 12's.. But I was just bored and dicking around so I was riding while sitting on the tank the other day.. no bit deal anyone can do it.... and i wanted to put my feet over the front windshield...I believe this is the highchair position but didn't know how to even begin.. SOme advice would be great thanks,

Re: Need help on highchair position

practice just riding and then get on the tank like your going to do a tank wheelie, then just take your clutch hand off the bar, then swing your left leg over...put your left hand back on the bars, and then do the same for the other leg. it feels really akward at first, but you will soon realize that the windscreen keeps you into position. just try riding like that till you feel comfortable in it...then practice clutching it in that position till you get the feel of being jerked back and forth...then just give it the same amount of clutch and gas as you would clutch a wheelie...you will actually have to give it a little more since your weight is up front...but you get the idea.

yeah just practice riding around..... slowing down and speeding up etc..... i didnt do highchair wheelies till i did tank wheelies first so you might wanna get that down first..... also practice getting on and off efficiently..... i hop on to the tank give it steady throtle and bring my left leg over then pull in the clutch and bring my right leg over................... to get off just keep the throttle steady.... left leg off.........pull in the cltuch and right leg off.... once you get so use to it you can practice go from the seat to highchair position and push yourself back on the seat w/ one easy move.

After I get up onto the tank I just let go of the bars completely and throw both legs up at the same time and then grab the bars again. Takes much less time so you slow down less and less chance of tipping over. Quick and easy, try it from about 15-20 mph.

just make sure you dont accidentally kick the handle bars

Re: Need help on highchair position

I still have mirrors on the bike and was wondering if I should take them off or if I should be able to do it with them on. I tried the one leg over at a time thing last night like once on the way home. IT was very cold out and shitty weather but it seemed like I could do it very easily if the mirrors where not on it.. Also if I put both legs over at the same time where do I put my hands to brace myself..(Maybe rear tank???) thanks,Beau

I just fold my mirrors down, but you are correct no mirrors would make it easier.

Like GSE_Anthony said above, get on the tank, let go of bars, throw both legs up, put hands back on bars. You don't need to hold on to anything to brace yourself.

i still got my mirrors on as well.... just make sure you clear teh mirrors when your putting your legs over and taking it back......... if you hit the mirrors it could shift the weight of the bike.

I would take them off....it makes it that much easier. Or at least I would take them off to learn the basics so you don't get fouled up by the mirrors and then kick the bars. That is bad news.
