What size nut on GSX-R rear wheel?

What size nut on GSX-R rear wheel?
Can anyone tell me what size the nut is for the rear axle when removing the rear wheel on an 03 GSX-R 750? It's bigger than 1 1/4, maybe 1 1/2? (I realize it's probably supposed to be a metric socket)
