R6 wheelie questions!! help!
I just bought a 2001 R6 2 months ago. I previously owned a 1994 FZR600, which was WAY to heavy to even think about wheelies. Everyone I've talked to said learn 1st gear wheelies before trying 2nd gear. I've heard to get high RPM's in 1st gear (around 8-10k) and just chop the throttle. I've been successful twice, with maybe about 1/2 foot off the ground, got freaked out both times and threw her back down. A BIG BIG fear I have is coming down with my front tire not straight and going head over. I'm not talking about turned all the way to the right or left, but if the front tire isn't aligned will it throw you off, or just re-correct itself when it hits the ground?? Does anyone suggest a dampener?? I've only tried roll-on's, because 1)I heard its hard on the bike to clutch wheelies and 2) I'm afraid of looping out. I've noticed that 1st gears also seem to jerky, and 2nd gears seem really smooth. I've been really tempted to try 2nd gears, but I keep reminding my self to learn 1st gears first. When I try my 1st gears, I'm sitting down, in normal position, and just chop the throttle (no weight shifting). ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL HELP!! thanks!!

WOW... let me take a shot at this!!
1) you need to do as much as possible to make sure the front tire is straight when coming down. if its not youll get a bad tank slapper.
2) there are a lot of stearing stab. out on the market i run a hypro pro and love it. but it will not stop you from coming down with the bars turned.
3) i clutch all my wheelies and ride a 2001 R6 with 20K mile on the stock clutch. (if your stunting everything is hard on the bike!!)
4) take your time, be careful and if it dont feel right just bring the wheelie down smooth.
