Re: R6 Wheelie!!!

Best way in 1st is a sit down wheelie. Rev it to about 7000 and roll on the throttle, then use 1 finger and just slightly "blip" the clutch. Roll on a little harder and up she'll come...trust me. 2nd gear stand ups are the way to go on an R6 though. Bounce the pegs and smack the throttle hard at about 7-8000 lean way the hell back and make sure you commit. Roll back off at the balance point ( which feels like you've already flipped it) and away you go.

just ride 1st to about 9 grand....let off the throttle for a quick sec and let your rpms drop maybe a grand and throttle it back again... thats how i leaned
first gear...second gear...gotta clutch..pull in your clutch and flick your wrist and drop the clutch..split second your in da air.. kee your foot on the back brake at all times..

Re: R6 Wheelie!!!

mate, you just got the bike, learn how it rides first, get a feel for the power and were it is on the rev range and don't be if you can wheelie it in the first tens of owning it....your not rossi

Keep the back brake covered, if you feel the bike is going to flip over on you press the back brake so the front end will come down. Just do first gear wheelies and use the back brake to get the bike to come down. Practise this over time and take it easy learning, baby steps.

i ride a 99 R6, for me to do the power wheelies i run the rpms up to about 7000 drop the gas and the front forks should compress when u feel them compressing hit the gas again and it will come right up, i like 2nd gear cluch wheeling when im riding the R6 because 1st gear wheelies come up wayyy to quick. The R6 in my veiw is the hardest bike to wheelie. but i found out they can be cluched in 2nd at about 6000-7000. just give the gas hell.

Re: R6 Wheelie!!!

Id recommend clutching it. I ve had some bad experiences with powering and R6 and that powerband kicking in. Its to unpredictable. If you clutch it up you ll get it right were you want it from the start. Just my

Re: R6 Wheelie!!!

I can clutch it or bounce it up in 1st and 2nd, for 3rd gear, i shift up from a 2nd gear standup(02 r6). You just gotta learn tha bike first, then it'll come natural when the time is right or when you are ready. If you wanna keep the bike nice, take ur time w/ it.

yup...

I just took my time and learned. But I have ridden for almost 15 yrs and never tried stunts but one time in high school and almost broke my ***. So I said "*** that" and never did them until not too long ago. I went from never doing a wheelie or stoppie to doing both at a better than average rider. And I have never laid the bike down EVER during the learning process... **knocks on wood REAL ****** hard*** I have had a few close ones too.... Now I don't even have to think. It just comes naturally. I just do it and can do it just about every time without hesitation or freaking out. I say get used to your fear at your own rate, you'll eventually do it right without doing it like alot of these young dudes and get all messed up time and time again....

Well said bikerboy. I agree, I put 30,000kms on my bike before i even started stunting it..hense..i know my bike inside and out. As you attempt wheelies more and more your fear of the front wheel rising will decrease and your confidence will increase.

A good 'tool' to use when practiceing is a video camera and a mate to recod you. The front wheel feels as if it is 2 foot in the air when really it is half a foot in the air. In your mind, you now know you can give it a bit more gas after seeing this.

Last but not least... Practice Practice Practice Practice. That is the key ingredient to pulling wheelies.

Good luck

Grant

Re: R6 Wheelie!!!

I still say clutch in 1st is the way to go. I've had 4 R6's and they all respond better to the clucth. Once it comes up you'll have way more rpm's to ride the wheelie out too. If you power them up you are going to be really late in the powerband and it will run out of juice after a short while. You'll come back down quik. 2nd gear is the easiest on an R6 though. Stand up, bounce the bike, roll on then off and on again, and pull hard!
