need some pointers

Just learning the ins and outs of my bike and I am workin on ridin the wheelie when I get it off the ground. I have a 97 Gsx-r 600 with 3 up in the back. I thought about taking one down in the front to make it easier but at times I am gettin hesitation from my throttle response. I can clutch it but a buddy of mine can just load his front forks by jumpin on his 03 gsx-r 600 and it comes right up 12. I can't do the same with mine. Is it the difference in carb bike compared to fuel injection? I just don't get what I am doing wrong. I would love to get some pointers and ride with a few of you if you are near the tampa area. I kinda feel a lil inferior cause i am learning but if you are willin to help i am willing to travel.

why is your frined bouncing up a 12oclck wheelie???? well anyways you bike has more than enough power to do what you want stock.... just keep practicing.... maybe what you want to do now is bring up the wheelie w/ the least amount throttle possible...... that'll give you some good throttle responce recognization ......... but nothing helps more than practice.

Wow! Thats wierd! I just came down to Spring Hill to visit grandparents. I'm from Washington State so I don't have a bike here, but you def. have enough power to get it up quick. By the way, there isn't anything wrong with having to use the clutch to get it up... I think it is way better because it feels more predictable to me. you just need to practice, practice, practice... you will get it in no time. God knows you have enough straight-aways and nice enough roads to get all the practice you want! I just drool everytime I leave the house. I WANT MY BIKE!!!

Oh, P.S... I think it sucks that you don't have a helmet law. I want to move here! I'd wear it most of the time, but it sure would be nice to have the option.

Re: need some pointers

that 03 600 has about 15hp on U plus in weighs about 35 to 45 pounds less thats the diffrence its not U. Stick with clutching it up U'll be more consistant U'll get to BP faster and U will be able to more difficult tricks later down the road when U start learning slow **** because U will have to clutch it up. Practice U will get there.

Re: need some pointers

Ive started to do 2nd gear wheelies on the r6 after changing the gearing to 15/50 from stock 16/48

What I want to know is how to find where you are at the balance point!

I know its when you can just hold it with little effort. But how high is it roughly eg 11o 'clock orwhat? As I am worried of flipping my new R6 again!

body position has a factor too.......you cant be humping the tank and go 11 oclock....... just dont work like that.......... just post a picture and we can critique your body position height etc.
