Endo's

Hey,

I am buying my first sport bike quite soon. Currently I ride a crappy old '82 Honda Nighthawk 450. I bought it for 700$ canadian though so its not biggie.

Ok, so here's the story, i'm the pimp of endo's on my MB, but i can't get my motorcycle up. I've tried all season, rolling at 40 mph and laying on the brake nice and smooth, to the point where the tire is howling, but the back never lifts. Twice now i've pushed my front brake so hard that I just lock up the front tire instead of bringing up the rear. One time I locked up the front I just about bailed, but I caught it. The other time it got away on me.

Any advice on how I can get the back up in the air when the bike don't want to lift?

thanks

try bouncing your *** on the seat and shifting your weight up and forward right as you grab the brake

I don't think it's the brakes... If you can lock up the front they should be fine.

To lift the rear tire, and go into a stoppie, you will need a certan ammount of grip. So make sure you are running a good front tire, that is properly heated. And try them on good asphalt.
A lower tire pressure can help too.
Then you have to make sure you get as much weight to the front tire as possible, this will improve the grip further. Do it by moving you'r body forward, and breaking progressively.

Could be that you'r bike just can't do stoppies with you'r current setup... I don't really know what you'r bike looks like, but Im thinking low centre of gravity, and a long wheel base. The geometry of the bike has alot to say, and your's probably aren't that great for stoppies.

I ride a Jawa CZ-180, a 130kg heavy bike with a one disc one piston caliber brake. The brake is fine for stoppies, I just have to use 4 fingers to squeese hard enough. The geometry however is not that good, and only with hot tires good asphalt and some weightshifting can I bring up the rear.

I would reccomend trying some small stop-stoppies, just to find out if it's possible to get the rear off the ground, before you move on to rolling them out.
I never got any further than stop-stoppies, the front locked up on me too often, and I didn't feel like trying that at higher speeds

I would really wait until you get a sport bike. Its better to be on a bike that is easier to stoppie than a bike that not good at doing stoppies. Washing out on a bike does suck. Good luck.

Nighthawk, as in the cruiser, lol. The problem, it's the bike, get a sportbike, and then do them. If you can roll one on the nighthawk, I wanna see that mess, lol.
