Re: 03 R6 wheelie

I have a question for those who are experienced with 3rd gear wheelies. I'm having problems getting the front end up. When I pounce, am I not giving it enough gas or what? I can feel it wanting to come up but I may be a little scared going 90+ miles per hour. Can you give some advice? -Stuntwanabe

I have a question about 2nd gear wheelies.. how fast are you going and are you clutching or bouncing or cutting the throttle or a combination of everything?

Re: 03 R6 wheelie

way too much rpm for first gear. the r6 is really torquey down low. and there is a blip in the power up around 7-8k. in first. do the same thing u were doin. but only bring the rpm up to 4-5k. should comwe up like nuthin.

u shouldnt be doing 90miles an hour to bring up 3rd. bring it to about 10k rpm. which is not much over 70 mph. then bounce and throttle. comes up easy.

i have same bike. stock gears. standin up in 2nd. bring it to about 8k rpm. then bounce and snap throttle. 8k. should be around 80km/h. u can do it sittin down. but youll have to bring the rpm up around 10k. and u have to pull really hard when u snap the throttle. u can bring it up alot slower if u use the clutch.

So nutcase are you saying that I don't have to use the clutch in third at 70 miles per hour? Just more gas? And another question for you, I did about 50 wheelies of all sorts in second and first yesterday and almost everytime I get it up I go immediately to the right! WHY! I'm so frustrated about that. Any thoughts about why?

What he said...your RPMS are too high...slow it down to 25mph up to like, 30 mph and you'll be able to pull it up, you've just missed your powerband, that's all.

Re: 03 R6 wheelie

I have an 02 R6 and can use tha throttle and bounce it up in the first 3 gears, all in the timing and just getting it right. Throw your weight back too when the wheel is coming up, esp. if your a light dude. You can also clutch it, just mess around with it, when its time, it'll come!! Cover that rear brake to! ~nick

I usually have the bike running at 10k in 3rd gear, and then i just give it a little hop and it comes up.. Just make sure you bring it to the balance point immediately because once it starts going down in 3rd gear theres not enough power to bring it back up.

Re: 03 R6 wheelie

its all about body position, you can rev the **** out of an R6 (my mate has one) and if you head over the tank u wont pop up,

just sit back in the seat and bounce it up that way, u will be suprised how much body position has to do with poping it up,

On my 02 R6, if i wheelie it to much or get tha bike to hot, it tends to bitch about doin wheelies as good untils she cools down a lil. ~nick
