10 up sounds great. Check out the video of Jay from S.O.I. he has a gixxer 1000 with only +2 up in the rear, and he rocks everything slow. I would go -1 and 10 up if I were you. but seriously check out the vid. one of my fav's.

if you wanna keep the stock chain then the most you can go would be -2 +5 . works good for me and i can still ride on the freewya when i have to.

I have a 02 gix 1k, i was stock gearing and learning slow stuff, i went to -1 +10 rear.. it helps allot because on stock gearing you can chase the balance point, with this gearing it teaches you to get right up to the BP.. but the downside is , there is like NO top speed lol. but i love it anyways lifting it up in 5th is funny.

If you learn on stock or close to stock when you get the bigger gears it will make it ten times easier

bigger sprockets = touchy throttle = wobbles if you dont know what ur doing

I learned on -1 + 2 on my 97 when I got my 02 i went -3 +5

I'll sellya my 2down 8up and chain. Works great but I want more. Ithink I'm going 18 or 20 up with the 2down or 24up with stock on front.

if you havent practiced doing slow stuff w/ stock gears it will take you twice as long to get used to slow stuff if you regear w/o knowing what the hell is going on. i got a -1/16 on mine and i love it!

yep, I definately gotta go with the 24 up. That'll be a 66 tooth. Should look like a ferris wheel.

Hello all ,
been watching this thread and would like some of the same feed back.

I've got a 95 900rr , with a 16 / 47 set up. (0/+4) , also kinda sloppy chain.
stand ups at speed are not a prob. , but I want to start try'n sit down and stand ups reel sloww ...learn the circles and no hand sit downs.
on this set up I have to clutch it up hard .

Will a different sprocket set up help get the front up calmer with more stability and control?
