Loose chain affecting wheelies?
Would a loose chain or tight chain affect how easily your bike wheelies. I can bounce second gear up about a foot and thats it. Wondering if this would make a difference or not?

if it is extremely loose then it could skip a tooth but i hope you would notice that, and if it is too tight when you get it up it will pull to the left. i'm sure that you have it adjusted pretty close to where it should be, it just takes practice

it probably doesn't have anything to do with your wheelies....BUT, you want the chain a little tighter when you are doing slow stuff so you don't get slack that causes the bike to be jerky. NOT TIGHT, but just a little less play than normal.
you probably won't notice this at high speed wheelies cause you are usually on the throttle enough to stop it.

Thats the problem Im having. When I try to clutch it up, mine skips the teeth. It looks like the sprocket teeth are wearing down, and I know the chain is a little loose.
The guy I just picked the bike up from just had the chain tightened. So maybe I'll try to have it tightened one more time before I get a new sprocket, then I know for sure if the sprockets are worn down or not.
Its 2up now. 1 down and 4 or 5 up is really tempting
Also what size chain can I rock with -1 and +4or+5??? This is on a 97 gsxr 750.

ya, tighten the chain then.
chain size...i have no idea. you can get a 120link did non-oring change for 30$ at parts411.com
that's what i bought and i sized my chain up and use that. you can use that for a while then when it dies you'll know how many links you'll need to buy for an o-ring chain.

JPratt,
GSXR-750 is a great bike. I went -2 +5 and it was really twitchy. I then went back to -1 +5. It is perfect. Great for slow and fast ****. If you are skipping a tooth your old **** is ****ed. Get some new ****. It will be worth it... Also get rid of that 530 chain if you still have it and go with 520. Much easier to do yourself.
