ok i have 06 f4i. i recently did the 01 tail swap. i had it all repainted. well upon bringing it home, i ran out of gas. my buddy put a little in that he had and i topped it off at the gas station. on my way home the bike suddenly started to sputter and shake. the fi light come on, and then went off. i finally got it home after i thought i was gonna die. i can crank it up and it will idle smooth, but as soon as i get on the road, it repeats the same thing. im so lost. what could it possibly be?

 

I dont know why it would sputter right away but if it happens at a certain rpm it could be a pinched fuel line. sounds like a fuel system problem either way

 

i had the same issue, take the tank off and go thru all the lines that come off the fuel pump, mine turned out to be the FPR(fuel pressure regulator). try that as it is common for these bikes.
