Plastic welding

Anybody got any advice? I bought this atv plastic welder and i'm trying to weld up some holes in my 636 plastics. The welder is made by urethane supply and its the little 40 watt model. I'm guessing i need some kind of steel mesh backing to start to even fill in a hole. Btw i don't have the missing piece, just holes. Any advice?

Re: Plastic welding

Attempt to make a close fitting mold to fill, the later try to plastiweld it in place, But plastic welding is not easy at all. I usually go with Fiberglass an bondo on areas that dont really flex. But it will only last a year or so befor it need more filling.

Re: Plastic welding

All u need to plastic weld is a ten dollar soldering iron from sears, and some scrap bike plastic. Any kind of oem scrap plastic should melt together. Cut the scrap piece to fit the hole, use the chisel tip of the solderng iron and go to town. If shots painted, make sure u sand off the paint down to bare plastic befor u start melting together. Hence welding.
