Having a problem and cant even explain it...
Ill post a video thats uploading onto youtube right now, you can watch in HQ to maybe understand the sound and read my gauge... but here are a few issues that are happening
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs-zhvLoGLY
Chec (Check engine) comes on and stays on. Wont let me go in any gear just sits there and bobbles like its not getting any fluids OR its getting flooded...
After I try to go for a little bit (trying to just throttle through the bobbling) it dies, and the oil light comes on as if i JUST turned the ignition on.
After letting the bike settle for a bit it rode home fine with no problems.... but this is starting to occur more often
***Note I was doing wheelies before this video was shot, nothing amazing, no mile long wheelies, just quick up and downs trying to warm up more then popping them straight up. So not once did I reach BP and ride it out....*** also note that this problem has occurred when ive been simply riding for long hours say 4-6hrs straight without stopping except for gas
Have had a few friends tell me its the fuel pump, few people have said electrical, but nothings worked. Ive changed spark plugs, burned all the fuel and refueled, and changed oil/filter, changed air filter... nothing has fixed anything... I would rather get some advice before I tear this bitch apart but im pissed right now this is my only form of transportation, so if anyone knows ANYTHING!

Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
nah it lets me go into gear just fine. its just when im releasing the clutch and taking off, about 10mph into riding it starts to jerk like it wants to die then it does... did it in first/2nd/3rd gears, never could get going fast enough to take it higher then that
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
figure out what the check code is thats the best place to start thats what its there for buddy I've got and old 91 zx6 thats doing that also but I'm pretty shure my problem is in the carbs post up when you fix it maybe yours will give me a clue on mine if syncing my carbs don't fix it
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
I really dont believe i did... i put the ML it states for my make/model in handbook but i give it a little over (talking not more then 10-20ML) for the initial burn it will do when i start and let it run a bit before riding it etc so i really doubt it, havent had this problem the whole time ive had the bike and ive done every oil change
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
What about the fuel lines? Have you checked them yet? I have a Pontiac they was doing that (I know it's a car but same problem) and I replaced 2 fuel pumps and 2 fuel filters only to realize that it was both the fuel lines and the fuel regulator or govenor if you will.
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
Stupid question... but my roommate and i are arguing about this. When i take my gastank off and pull the line leading from my fuel pump to the bike it keeps leaking fuel
Isnt it NOT supposed to? I understand once the ignition is turned on and the fuel pump comes on then it does start sending fuel to the bike, but when its off (regardless whether its been ridden that day or not) it is NOT supposed to leak correct?
and if its not supposed to and mine does, does that mean my fuel pump is bad, and could that be a reason this is happening is maybe its flooding pushing too much fuel when i tear up the streets or practice wheelies?

Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
i had a bike doing this a few weeks ago, someone put sand in the dudes tank cleaned it out took apart the fuel pump and it works fine now. it might not be sand but it could possibly be the coating on the inside of the tank chipped off. hope this helps
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
thats definitely one thing i havent checked out. Will do asap.
As for the post from classic customs. What, if any, are the symptoms to my fuel pump leaking when unplugged?

Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
i am going to bet its like highstyles said. i have seen **** get stuck in them and they flood the engine out. i was on my phone earlyer just now watched the vid.. i am not a mechanic but it sure seems like its flooding out.... as far as the oil light though, its going to stay on till you start and it build pressure. my 04 stays for about a second or so after i start it
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
yeah i knew that about the oil light i know i said it at bad timing n the video and stuff... but there are times ill be riding and it will come on just a few seconds before it shuts off... but its not ALWAYS the sign... if that makes sense lol thats why i didnt know if it was oil related
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
its not an oil light only, its an everything light if there is a problem that light will come on. like.. an idoit light in a car. it is coming on because your fuel pump is clogged, witch in turn isn't letting enough fuel pass, witch in turn throws off your computer, now its trying to re-adjust to the new fuel pressure, but it is always changing because the clog is moving around. everyones fuel line leaks when you disconnect it. because it is at operating pressure untill the bike shuts off. then there is still pressure on the line, because when you cut off the motor the injectors stop flowing at the same time the pump kicks off. hence.. the **** don't go anywhere, untill you A. fire it back up. or B. disconnect the fuel line. take off the tank. take out the fuel pump. look at the filter on the pump. make sure that little rubber boot is still on the intake of the pump. ( that helps keep the **** out ) look for any type of grit, or goo or anything. clean it out with GAS ONLY!! just get a bucket or something. make sure its clean. look inside your tank, make sure its smooth and there is nothing in it anywhere, because the smallest thing could get stuck to the side of the tank while draining, and just float to the bottom again when your done and filling it back up. so take your time.. check everything.. re-assemble and go ride.
Re: Having a problem and cant even explain it...
not a bad guide at all. Have 3 days coming up guess ill have to take one day just to do this anyways, i really hope that IS what the problem is then ill be thanking the **** out of you. So will keep ya updated then if I find anything, I really appreciate it man
