Would it help for my fork seals?
Re: Would it help for my fork seals?
i heard you can put brake fluid on them when they start to leak.
i've also heard you can tighten the springs in the seal.
I HAVEN'T DONE EITHER OF THE ABOVE, JUST WHAT I'VE HEARD. I'VE WANTED TO TRY THE BRAKE FLUID BUT I JUST REPLACE THE SEALS AND GO RIDE,BRAPPP!

Re: Would it help for my fork seals?
WHAT???????????????MAMMAS WROOOOOOONG AGAIN!!!!!
how the hell are you supposed to tighten the spring in the seal? its a very weak spring.... its basically there just to help the seal keep its shape. and im still trying to figure out what brake fluid is supposed to do.....?
if you have leaky seals... replace them! its a 2 hour job!
also..... brake fluid is bad for paint, it slowly eats it away....

like stated before"i've heard this will work, never tried it"
now your a dumbass, have you ever tightened a spring? well, there is a spring inside the fork seal,dur.... dirtbike people do it all the time, that's who i heard it from. i'd never waste a good seal, i just pop and swap as stated before......................
alright **** mouth? now for brake fluid, it makes rubber seals expand right? well take a q-tip and dip in brake fluid and rub on seal(like stated before haven't tried, but would like to("and the reason being-if it does work i could get a few sessions in ,then do bike repair on shitty day")
never said throw a bottle of brake fluid on you bike, it might help your seal.............................................. ....

*people need to read whole post
fork seals takeing 2hrs, thats a lot of beer drinking i hope.

Re: Would it help for my fork seals?
I'm not an expert on suspension...... what blows fork seals is the creation of hydraulic pressure by too much force applied to the internal parts, im pretty sure you want to rebuild the forks with stiffer springs and you probably want valves with bigger holes so that the oil can move through faster and not create the same pressure thats going to blow your seals...... I would definitely call RACE TECH and consult them.... im sure they have done quite a bit for stunters...

*** CLOWN! YOU SAID "THE SPRING IN THE SEAL" there is a small spring around the fork seal, thats what I thought you were talking about!!!!
I got you now!!!!!
never heard about the brake fluid method... if it works... ok, but my ADD works the other way.... I'd be going to the shop, buying/ordering my seals and then ripping my bike apart getting it ready for replacement parts.
whateva!
Re: Would it help for my fork seals?
forks seals blow, get tore-up for multiple reasons. i think the main reason would be from trash like sand, dirt, etc. messing up the seals not pressure blowing them out. why do you think there are dust covers?
anything from nicked/scratched tubes can wear seals out faster then stink on ****. if your bikes bottoming out then add 5ml more oil to each fork, try thicker oil before you re-valve or respring (cheaper and has worked great for me)

it's not around the seal, it's in the seal. next time you spend 2hrs doing you seals, take 5mins and look at the old seals, or better yet play with you new seals to see where the spring is located in the seal...... then pm me and let me know where the spring is located(inside or out)

I know where they are butt pirate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the dust wiper is to keep the **** from getting to the seal! so if its dirt that ruins the seal.... how is it that newbs blow seals on brand new bikes? when you slam the front down you are creating hydraulic pressure because the oil cant go through the valve at that rate.... SO... the weakest part of the assembly takes a ****..... the seal!
My R1 forks have discoloration on the chrome tubes from 30,000 miles of stoppies and wheelies, they dont leak..... I've never slammed the front end down, stoppies is the worst abuse they have taken. why aint my **** leaking?

"fork seals takeing 2hrs, thats a lot of beer drinking i hope."
how long it takes is really irrelevant...... I'll go through 2 cans of brake cleaner to make sure I have every last drop of old oil out of the fork tubes and the damper assembly. I dont cut corners. no brake fluid on my seals!
KNOW YOUR ROLL BITCH!!! LOL

Re: Would it help for my fork seals?
do you read everything that is typed before you respond?
*aren't you the one that said your bike wobbles to much for you to whoolie because its rear shock is to worn out?

Re: Would it help for my fork seals?
i read it fast.........
I have 2 bikes an R1 that is pretty worn out, I'll wheelie it... no problem.... I wont wheelie it until it gets a new chain.... and yes, the rear shock is looser than a cheap hooker which causes the bike to get some crazy wobble in a wheelie.... i can usually ride it out... sometimes not.... whats your point?
I also have an F4i that is stunted out... its rock solid... I can rock wheelies for days! my plain stand up wheelies were actually better with stock gearing but who really cares...
I powder coated everything on it neon pink... how do you feel about that? bitches love my bike.... and if they dont..... ******* SKANKS!!!!
