Ok, I feel kind of stupid for posting such a simple seeming question, but I cannot get my gascap/seat key out of my stock honda gascap. The only way I can get the key out, is if I install the gascap on the fueltank, and remove the key, but to take the cap off I have to insert the key, and thus the key is still in the cap. I tried wrenching on the flanges on the bottom of the cap, but it doesnt seem to be working. What am I missing here? Doesnt seem like I should be having so much trouble. Do I just need to squeeze even tighter with pliers? I dunno.

 

All you shopuld need to do is turn the key back to the locked position and it will come out.

 

If you want to get the key out of the cap while it is out of the bike here is how. Holding the cap upside down there are the two pieces that stick out to lock it into the tank. There is also an inner ring which is close to the rubber seal. You need to push that inner ring down and this will allow the key to spin back and releasing it. If you need pictures let me know and I'll go snap a few for you.
