Adjusting manual CCT F4i

Hey guys, I have my APE CCT in my f4i and I don't know if I'm adjusting it correctly. I tightened it until I felt tension on the screw, and started the bike with my finger on it. When I rev the bike to around 4k or so and let off, I can hear a slashing sound on decel very quickly. Is it still too lose? I read to tighten it until you feel tension, and back it out 1/4 turn. I'm worried I might over tighten it. How much tighter should I go?

So if its so tight that I can't go anymore by hand do you think its too tight? When I let off the gas after revving it, it sounds like a whip cracking or a bunch of BBs being shaken in a can or something like that. Is that even the chain?

Re: Adjusting manual CCT F4i

while holding the cct(so it doens't vibrate out)...

just put your ear next to the head, and rev the bike...listen when it's de-accelerating.

if it makes the noise, tighten a 1/2 turn...if you still hear it, tighten another 1/2....if the noise doesn't get ANY better...go back 1/2 turn and lock it.

Re: Adjusting manual CCT F4i

Its all set. The sound I was hearing was actually not the cam chain, but a few loose washers somewhere else. I did have it set too tight however. I backed it out till it I could hear it at idle, then tightened it slowly, revving the motor as I did until it sounded mint. Its just like tuning a guitar, and the bike ran mint all day.
