Problems getting power to f4i fuel pump.
Problems getting power to f4i fuel pump.
the bikes turns over but the fuel pump wont kick on. Its not the fuel pump though because i cant even get power to the 3 wire plug for it. tested tip over sensor, and its working fine. anyone know what other sensors keep the pump from kicking on?
Re: Problems getting power to f4i fuel pump.
nadda, no click. i wondering if its somthin else now too, because when i turn the key on the red light to the left of the Nuetral light doesnt stay lit up like on my buddys f4i. it just lights up with the rest of the display and then goes off.
do you know if the 2 relays on the right side of the subframe are the same, the one right next to it? i switched them out and still no luck.

Re: Problems getting power to f4i fuel pump.
hard wired the fuel pump and it works, so i guess its gotta be the ecu or relay. anyone know if that red light next to the green nuetral light wont come on if the relay is bad? or if it is a sign the ecu is shot?
Re: Problems getting power to f4i fuel pump.
i'm not sure if those two relays are the same that you switched either. i'd pull the fuel pump relay off, go down to auto zone and tell them to match it. a new one is about $2.
you can get in your manual and see which wire comng out of your ecu is your power wire for your fuel pump. check it with a test light.
then i'd check wiring. not often an ecu goes bad. it does happen.

replaced the relay, and still no luck. I checked for power to the relay and im not even getting pwer to it. Anyone know whats could be causing that? i also checked the engine shut off relay and it seems to be working fine.

YUP. im broke and i got tired of waiting on a new one so i started to play
i also checked this last night!
i looked it my clymer book last night and looked up trouble shooting for a fuel pump and ignition proplems.i believe the red light is the [MIL] light
(malfunction indicator light) Engine must be cranked for ten seconds with stop switch in the on position to genrate MIL codes. i tryed to find the MIL table but no luck

Well i tried my ignition, both relays, and the ecu on my buddies bike and they all worked. ended up finding a red/white wire by the fuse box that wasnt plugged in and that turned out to be the problem. Now the fuel pump kicks on, but the red light to the left of the nuetral light still doesnt stay lit up when the key and kill switch are on. anyone know what thats a sign of?

How long did you let the bike run? And did you change hteoi l recently?
It takes my bike 5 sometimes up to 10 seconds to get oil pressure after changing hte oil
Also if you ever removed your oil pan, you MUST replace the oil pickup's Oring.. If you do'nt your bike can take up to 30 seconds to build pressure!
edit: oh wait I can't read...
That light is oil pressure, it should stay ON intil the bike is started, then it turns off..
