f4i frame problem..
f4i frame problem..
Leah managed to bend in her frame and crack the left motor mount on her motor about a year ago. Today I noticed that it had cracked all the way through so I started swapping in a new motor we had.
I'm having problems getting the frame on the new motor due to the bend, and trying to figure out the best fix.
Currently with the motor mount spacer tightened all the way, it's about a mm off from sliding on.
I could grind down the adjustable spacer on the right a bit more, but then I'm worried the rear motor mount spacers won't fit right (but I'm sure I could fix that with some washers and more grindings), also that perhaps the weight distribution will be really out of whack (should this even be a concern?).
I could also grind down the part of the frame on the left motor mount side to make it fit (f4is have and adjustable spacer on the right, and a non adjustable part on the left that is part of the frame), which would seemingly fix both of the problems but then I'd be grinding down the actual frame.
Any suggestions?

Re: f4i frame problem..
wow that is carnage. If it were me I would get a salvage frame. It is worth the money if yhe is that hard on the bike. The one you have is weak already and might not hold up to her abuse.
Re: f4i frame problem..
Just to update anyone else who encounters this problem (as I've seen quite a few f4i's cracked at that motor mount with slightly bent frames).
I tried grinding down the right side adjustable spacer to make it fit that way first. I then shimmed all the other spacers to make everything fit, but in the end it made the head of the motor on the right side sit right on the frame which was no good.
I ended up going with my first solution which was grinding the frame on the left side spacer a couple of cm. This let me mount everything up perfect with no shimming and most importantly, the head isn't resting against the frame.
