Wheelie Body Positioning

im frustrated as hell right now.....

when im wheelieing my R6, seated, im sitting way far back on the seat, and leaning back as well to clutch it up in 2nd.....now i feel like im up there, my friends are tellin me that im only maybe 2 feet off the ground and i feel up because im leaning too far back.

at this height it feels balanced, and i can ride it out with no problem til 2nd gear runs out, but i need to get much higher. im guessing that if my body was closer to the tank, the balance point would be higher, but i think id have a hard time getting it to come up.

ive been trying to stand up and wheelie and its kinda strange so far.....ive been clutching up second and standing up halfway up, comes down sooner than id like to though.....any good way to practice this so i can get it down, ill been all about trial and error on this damn thing lately. my boy is telling me to stand up and lean over the tank and then bring it up to my chest or whatever.....not sure how to accomplish this.

i guess i just need to know how i should be positioned to accomplish some more height on these wheelies......ive tried more and more gas, but it just seems like it doesnt wanna do what i want it to, i must be fighting it somehow. hopefully you guys have some pointers for me...ok, ill stop rambling, just having a shitty wheelie day....thanks in advance!

Lean back, keep your arms straight

Hes wrong, if you lean over the tank, thats more weight that your engine has to lift. You want to keep your weight as far back as you can

Are you clutching? or still bouncing?

i clutch it all the time.....and i know leaning more forward will make it harder to bring the wheel up intitially but i think hes saying ill have a better idea of how far up i am....didnt think there was such a thing as leaning too far back, but who knows?

I have a 02 R6 TO do a sit down you have yo lean back, when I do a stan up I have a tendacy to lean forward right on the tank, I can still ride it for a 1/4 mile like that or so, if see the videos alot of people lean far forward. I'am startin to lean back more, I can clutch it up in third with a little bouncing yes Ihave stock gearing

thats cool.....i still havent got the whole bounce thing down....at what RPM are you bouncin' it up in second/third? i was trying this with the clutch in 2nd standing up the other night, and it almost seemed like it took more effort to get her up than it did sitting...probably due to the fact that when im standing im leaning forward.....maybe the bounce technique would help things out a bit.

my boys are tellin me to sell the 6 and get something with more *****, but i love it too much.....only bike ive ridden that just feels right....now if i can just get the damn thing to listen to me....

don't worry about your body positioning affecting the balance point.. and difference will be very negligible, unless you are like 400lbs.

if you are running out of gear (i.e. ride them untill redline) then you aren't to the balance point. get a friend to take pics or video, and then compare to pics of stunters who ride LONG wheelies, and you will see.. when you're first getting them down, they feel a lot higher than they are. also, the R1 has a crazy high and narrow balance point, so i assume your R6 does too. if you like the bike, rock it.. i love my R1.

if you can see where you are going while you wheelie you are not going high enough{sitdowns}

my team mate jester rides an 02 r6 and he has no problems. Has plenty of power and he's all stock.

When i do stand ups i lock both knees out and lock my elbows out so i'm hanging way back on the bike. That also makes the bike mroe side to side stable.
