F4 naked bike HESITATES!!

Hey, are there any F4 naked bike owners out there? I just took off all my fairings and put on a stunt headlight. I kept the plastic air intake inlets in, but cut them in half (so they don't stick out too much). The bike started running like crap. BARELY accelerates. I'm thinking it's because there's no restriction now (intake wise). Has anyone had the same problem?

could be several issues. Best thing is to get a manual and go through its diagnosis. Sounds like vacuum . did you mess with anything under the tank recently??

I didn't mess under the tank, however, I did shorten the small hose that seems like it's going into some triangular shape and then into the air intake. I have no idea what it's for and I just shortened it a tiny bit.

im not sure what your talking about but it doesnt seem like it would affect it if its outside the airbox. I would tape it back and see if it helps. ........

REALLY weird. I plugged the speedometer back in and it runs like new again!! I have no idea what the problem was, but it seemed to go away... I just hope it wasn't too serious, because the speedometer not being hooked up still doesn't settle in my head.

Weird. Plus thats a carb bike so that comes into play. I havent dealt with carbs so i wont assume anything. Get a manual when you can cause they really help.

Re: F4 naked bike HESITATES!!

the tube going to the splitter is the balance tube for the carbs...but i have heard that you need the inst' cluster hooked up to get the bike operating normal....unplug it again and inspect the elec' terminals for corrosion or rust...may need to get a can of electical cleaner and a clean wire brush to clean em up and smear some di-electric grease in there to stop it from happeneing again....good luck dude...don't want that **** stopping abruptly whilst in a whoolie...

Re: F4 naked bike HESITATES!!

yea the F4 has a wierd thing called a "20khm wire".. what it does noone knows... seriously. its a pink wire that goes into the back of the cluster. its what makes it run like **** when its unplugged. its been like five years since ive streetfightered an F4 i cant remember if you have to ground it or run power to it but thats the reason why. has something to do with snyching the computer up differently at higher speed. the wire is on the schematic listed as 20khm wire
